Powell County 12 Letcher Central 1 (5 innings)
#1
Final from Knott.

Powell threw both Dicken and Begley. Not sure who LCC threw.
#2
LCC threw their ace that everyone thought would shut powell down. didn’t happen did it?
#3
Powell is my pick to win region.
#4
Dicken only through 47 pitches and Begley just threw 26. So both guys would only need 1 day rest and would be available Wednesday, correct? That would give Powell their 3 best pitchers going forward. Watched the live stream they looked the part of a regional contender

How much will the absence of their injured catcher affect their chances. I was told he is one of the best players in the region.

Not sure how that works now. I was always under the impression that once a pitcher played, they had to sit a few days/games so I don’t know about Wednesday but I’d say they would be available for Friday if they make it.

it’s days rest. Under 25 you can come back the next day. 50 it’s a complete days rest. So both begley and dickens can come back on Wednesday and pitch if we choose to. if either of those boys threw 51 they couldn’t come back till Friday. But powell co has everyone available for Wednesday.

The catcher is back. He was out for the last two weeks of the regular season and got cleared to play against estill in the championship game. So they are at full strength

Yeah I was wrong.
I thought LCC would win if Williams was on the mound. Powell looked like the best team in all the games today. Should be a good one vs hazard .

You never know how those situations play out. I just like Powell’s pitching staff.

Hazard burned their ace tonight. Knott burned their ace today. I’m predicting a Powell / Estill ship.

I think facing Letcher’s lefty tonight will have Powell prepared for Niece in the championship. I think Powell gets the job done.

Only chance Letcher had was for Williams to be on his game and he was not. Powell definitely looked the part tonight.

Powell definitely came to play and their pitcher shut the bats of lcc down, Williams was off from the start but no excuse cause Powell was ready. No reason to bash the kid, coming in to regional he was the best pitcher in the region or atleast the hottest. He had just shut Knott out in the district final & Powell was coming off a loss, anyone outside of Powell parents would have thought Williams could keep the hot streak going. I think it’s Powell & Knott on Friday, Knott has other arms besides Napier & POY in huff. Estill struggled with Leslie yesterday and Knott just hung 21 runs on them recently plus it’s at Knott so I’ll go with the patriots. If Powell plays like they did yesterday & pitches like that, then they will be hard to beat.

Knott definitely set things up to their favor as far as the format goes. It would benefit Powell to go Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If knott is able to throw their Ace again on Friday then I think stars align for them. Powell is definitely the best overall team in the region

Yeah I was wondering how Powells AD and Head Coach let the region be played in this format... MWF.  When Powell had the advantage in pitching... With 3 starting pitchers and several relievers. Powell would have walked through the region if the format was like years past.

I could be wrong but I think that’s the normal format. I know Perry changed it last year to play 3 games in 3 days but I think that was just to stick it to Hazard.

The State Tournament is set up to play 2 games per weekend. So every team in the tourney gets to pitch their #1 & #2 guy the whole state tournament. Me personally I don’t see anything wrong with the way Knott set it up.

It’s usually left up to the host school. There’s usually feedback involved but they can set it up however you want. Personally I don’t like either. I’d much rather let them play Monday Tuesday and the two schools remaining play best of 3 starting on Thursday and ending on Saturday. Playing a series usually guarantees the best team goes. Anything can happen in one game. I understand why they don’t do it for regional but I definitely think they should do that for the state tournament

14th Region policy board sets the format.
