how come nobody has any info on this scrimmage. I heard Valley did well, I would like to know from someone there.

Valley did look good at times, Paintsville's defense looked good as well. As for Paintsville's offense, the line has a lot of work to get done as there inexperience was very evident. In varsity, each team scored one a piece and then some of the younger guys got some work and Paintsville scored one. On a side note, Shelby Valley's QB took a hit last night and got hurt. He had ice on his knee but was walking around after the scrimmage last night. I hope he's okay.

Who stood out for Paintsville?

Pugh laid a couple of hits on defense, also had a couple of long nice runs. Sublett played well at LB, J.J. Hensley looked good on the defensive line. Kevin Osbourne did alright for his first time playing on the d-line and o-line. Hensley did alright on the o-line. Humphrey did well at receiver, and made a couple of good runs from QB with the younger guys. May want to try him at tailback. Reynolds looked good catching passes out of the backfield, they may want to try to move him to Tight end for the time being. The Tiger staff played a lot of players last night. A lot of mix and matching, just trying to get a look at some players. The Tigers weak point last night was the offensive line. SV had 8 in the box and most of the time they were bringing 8. I think it caused a lot of confusion for the inexperienced bunch. I don't think they knew who to pick up and by the time they decided both the LB and DL were by them. Hopefully it's something they can workout, this week in practice and at the next scrimmage.

Who will be starting on the o-line and d-line and how many starters do they have returning?

One starter returning on the o-line, as the way it looks last night no one is guarentee a starting spot. After the scrimmage last night, they practiced and then this morning as a team they went in and watched the scrimmage film. I have a feeling this week at practice will be a gut check week. Just if I was guessing, starting offensive line will be guards Casey Brown, and Bucky Bailey. Center will be J.J. Hensley the only returning starter and at one of the tackles it looks like Kevin Osbourne. The other tackle position is up for grabs between Casey Leonard (out right now with 20 some odd stitches in his chin and mouth), Justin Meek, Brandon Hensley and Billy Slone. Along the defensive front, they returned zero experience. From the scrimmage last night the defense looked solid with a five man rotation featuring J.J. Hensley, Kevin Osbourne, Casey Brown, Justin Meek and Billy Slone. I sure wish Justin Stafford (started 3 games last year at OT) and J.D. Vanhoose would have came out. Also forgot to mention earlier Old School, that Patrick Butcher ran the ball pretty well last night as well.

I heard that SV handle them pretty easy. SV pick a couple of balls, and recovered a fumble.

Pugh only passed five times that I can remember, and about 3 or 4 of those were completed. I do remember one ball being batted down. I don't remember any fumbles other than one when the younger guys were playing, and it probably would have went for a Valley score had the whistle not been blown. I don't think either team handled each other, from what I seen it was a pretty even matchup.

Thanks for clearing that up. SV is very young, and should improve every game if they can stay away from injury. Saunders is going to get the best out of the players that want to play. Look for things to happen in the Valley!!!!!!!!!!!!1

There were no ints for anyone i don't believe. Paintsville did have 2 fumbles from there starters, one from a running back and then on a play that was going to be turned over on downs, the ball was knocked out of pugh's hands. I thought Casey Brown looked pretty good on d and pugh is just a beast!
I agree that neither team looked very impressive, but i think sv's coach acted as though he had just coached in the state finals. he seemed very pleased.

For Valley the O-line should look like this:
Center - Soph. Zach McCoy
Guards - Soph. Corey Hall and Junior Daniel Gillespie
Tackles - Seniors Tyler Cable and John Johnson

PHS will be better than they showed in this game if, they find an O line. Pugh is only as good as his O line is. The Tigers will be tough to beat I believe that.

I believe Pugh may experience some of the problems the Tigers had after their 2001 region championship season. They lost their offensive line of 3 years and left Simpkins under center with a bunch of freshman, I believe the Tigers will be just fine and see them going no less than the second round of the playoffs this season.

You may be right, but he's not stuck with a bunch of freshman. While some of those kids are young and inexperience, they have played varsity football at the high school level just not an extensive amount. That offensive that they lost in 2001, was a very experienced, strong and a deep line. If I'm not mistaken the line that replaced them, was the line that graduated from this past season. After four years of starting experience, I still can't say I was real impressed with them. You can go back and watch some of them films from last year to see that they weren't the greatest blockers. The Tigers will be fortunate to have a line like the 2001 team had, ever again. I hope an pray that the difficulties upfront during the last scrimmage was unknown assignments and inexperience showing through.

You are totally right BB, they aren't a bunch of freshmen, but like you said they are inexperienced...only repetitions will make them better, and yes it was last years line that replaced the 2001 line...i will say one thing about this years line, they have that hard work ethic and a lot bigger mean streak than last years...It may take them a few games to get clicking, but when they do, I expect nothing but good things from them. I'm going to watch the first game, and then come back in from Louisville to see how they've progressed, I'm sure it won't even look like the same Tiger team I saw against Fairview in Wk. 1...Get after it fellas

not counting when the younger kids went in the score was 6 to 6 i pretty fashure. but the game all around was pretty even

No the score wasn't 6-6. I don't even think there were 6 touchdowns in the game as a whole.

:lmao:I'm guessing you're thinking it is baseball season already. Scores in football count for 6 points.

The 2001 PHS O-line was tough and the guys that replaced them who were seniors last season were not the impressive. I hope this yrs. line will be much better but from what I have seen they will struggle. They will dominate weaker district teams but it is my opinon that they will struggle against PBURG, Pikeville, and JCHS. With reps they will get better and hopefully they will be primed and ready to go for the playoffs.

I'm hoping to see a better showing this Friday at Pikeville from the O-line. You're right they'll only get better with time and reps. Inexperience is the problem upfront currently. The teams you mentioned they will struggle with you're probably right, those are annually tough teams.
