Looks like the super regional is working just fine.

Super Region had a goal of bringing best eight teams to the Arena. I’d say it accomplished that. Four excellent first round games that wouldn’t have been possible with the old format. Johnson Central winning only makes the argument for this format even more compelling.

One thing about the super region is every game has been legit

Without the super region we’d had Belfry vs Martin Co and Shelby Valley vs Pike Central. Super region worked out. It’s Pikeville vs the 57th district. Whoever wins this thing will have earned it.

The best opening round of the 15th region in the past 25 years. The super region needed to happen years ago!

Only problem with super region is having top two teams on same side. Championship in the semis.

I love the Super Regional format. It made for a great regional tournament. The best part is that the KHSAA was in constant contact with the 15th Region Board of Control and was monitoring how this would work with the intention of implementing it state wide if successful. Looks like it will be here to stay when and if the state implements it.
