At Allen Central Mark Dunfee was by far the best and Big Luther Slone was probabily the second best. They played back when AC had some descent teams.

I agree Lumerjack B.J. would be my pick at the best ...with Nick a close second...alot of good backs have come from this school...Ketrin Mays...Josh McCray...Brandon Little...Wes Hall(who I thought would have been a better QB)...and as far as the D goes Robert Mullins is my pick hands down ...

Nick Compton - South Floyd....the talent he had was a dime a dozen, you name the position, he could play it....
For Wheelwright, I'd say runningback David Hall was one of the best players to come out of the area....

Last 10 years? SC has had some pretty big names come through since then, but if I made a list of the last 10 years it would look something like this:
1. Joey Stepp- OL/DL: Maybe the best lineman to ever come out of SC. (Shawn King and Bruce Stepp could be others worthy of this title) Anchored offensive and defensive line that played a key role in SC's 1998 regional championship. Was Co- District player of the year (Johnathan Wright of Belfry was other) a rarety for a lineman. Went on to play at Marshal.
2. Ben Delong- RB/FS: One of the best athletes to ever play for the Cards. Started both ways for 3 consecutave years. Had a combined record of 31-8 as a starter (98-00). Also played on 1998 regional championship team. Rushed for over 1000 yds as a starter twice.
3. Nathan Moore- QB/FS: Another of SC's great athletes. Started for 3 years on both sides of the ball. Was ranked one of the top 40 playes in the state going into his senior year. One of the more versitale QB's in the mountains durring his tenure. Also a standout in basketball and track. Currently plays football for Pikeville College.
4. Moe Spradlin- RB/SS: Was the backfield mate of Delong for 3 years. Another that had a combined record of 31-8 as a starter. Also played on regional championship team. Was the leading rusher all 3 years as a starter going over 1000 yds each year.
5. John Dials- OL/DL: Played same time as Delong & Spradlin. Had same combined record and also started for 3 years. Also started on regional championship team. Earned First Team All State selection by coaches his senior year. Was also a state champion wrestler.
6. Andrew Hill- OL/DL: Same as previous, but was not first team all state nor a wrestler. Suffered a massive injury his junior year in final regular season game and was SORLEY missed in playoffs.
7. John Stafford- RB/SS: An extremley hard nosed back that had a nack for playing well in big games. Was extremley strong and fast. Started for 2 years and went over the 1000 yards mark both years.
8. Brent Weaver(sp?)- WR/CB/KR/PR: Another special type of athlete. Played on the 1998 regional championship team. Was blistering fast. Had several big returns his senior year that were electrafying. Only played 2 seasons. Transfered to SC before junior season from out of state. Was also a state high jump champion.
9. Rusty Fletcher- RB/CB: Another extremley fast back for the Cardinals. Started for 2 years and rushed for 1000 yards in each. Was amazing at getting into open field and had great vision often making defenders look silly. Also played basketball.
10. Harley Hammonds- QB/DB: Hammonds was the QB durring SC's amazing 1998 regional championship run. A fierce competator and as tough as nails would most accurately describe the former signal caller. Also a standout basketball player. He now serves as asstiant basketball coach at SC.
