This is an unbelievable thing for our local athletes and just folks that want to enjoy higher level sports and support a college team.

I know the University of Pikeville has already purchased the land so I assume Bear Mountain is still a go and I’m super excited to see the final product once it’s completed…it’s gonna be a wonderful facility for generations of UPike athletes for a very long time.

Plus flat land in the downtown area is very scarce and with the way the city, especially the university and hospital, are growing the land where the current athletic facilities are located won’t sit empty for long. Seems to me that it’s a win-win for the university and the city.
