Martin County dominated this game. Congrats to them.

BL got embarrassed! Looked like they haven’t been on the floor in a week!

BL seemed to get beat on leak outs numerous times. Their guards weren’t crashing but they weren’t getting back on defense. Also BL seems to have no one to create for someone else. Whenever someone catches the ball on the wing, it’s just one on one. Shooter are in corners open but no one looks to kick. When MC big two are playing the way they did, they are hard to beat.

If not for foul trouble in the first half I think this game could have been a lot worse. Looking forward to watching Mc play Pikeville. Pikeville won’t miss those same shots against Mc as they did against Pburg. Should make for a great rematch of last year’s championship game.

I noticed Duff was still out for MC. Anyone have any word on his official injury and if he will be back anytime soon?

I got to watch the game. Betsy Laynes rotation got them beat by 20. BL playing 9/10 kids when their rotation maybe should be 6/7. To much daddy ball.

9-10 players is hard to play, unless you’re running the grinnell-platoon system.
6-7 players, who do ya think that should be?

Martin has been up and down good win. Maybe they have found their stride.

They will not start their best five and should be playing 8 that I can see. The best individual defender (maybe second to Pente) and best team defender in terms of help defense, rotation, and getting back on defense both do not start. I saw where one of the players say they start slow and are down at the end of the 1st a lot, but then make progress in the 2nd. That's why. Everyone sees it but the coach.
Their offense is bring it up fast and someone gun it. They have to be at the lower end of the assist/fg ratio of anyone anywhere. No one passes the ball unless they absolutely have to. Ball stoppers all over the three point line.
They have limited size, but refuse to play a defense where a defender drops down to help when a big man gets it inside.
I have watched them six times this season and if they don't chage something, they may not win much from here. Their schedule is brutal coming up.
Also, the lead for MC went from single digits to 20+ with those two defenders buried on the bench for the entire stretch.

How many players did they lose from last year?

8 is the number I’ve noticed also in all the games I’ve watched in person and online.
Been a common theme all year, in the games they’ve won, the production they’ve got from the bench has provided the spark for runs, closed out games or got hot and helped lead them to the wins. Namely the Freshman Hall and Senior Hall.
I’ve noticed random substitutions as an attempt to make everyone happy. Just can’t play 10 in a HS game, especially when numbers 9 and 10 don’t provide any sort of boost and get lost.
Erroneous Timeouts when the team is on a run, atleast 1 per game. Just don’t make sense.
Will not play a zone for more than a couple possessions. No offensive flow.
The team is 8-7, tough schedule and still time to improve yeah, but they’ve had the same starting lineup every game someone wasn’t out with injuries. Like I stated above, in all the games they’ve won, 2 off the bench and 3 starters or 3 off the bench and 2 starters (Hall’s and Allen) have provided the spark and/or led them to victory.
HC needs to learn something from UK’s team. Bring Reed and Rob, now Z in together at a certain time with the 2-3 starters playing the best and watch what happens.
