Pretty nice win for the Hounds at home last night over the Christians from Danville . Corbin actually trailed by four at halftime but the shots started falling in the second half, as Corbin(6-3) outscored the visitors 39-14 . We'll see what the Hounds are made of the next three games, with Harlan County and Ashland coming to Corbin this weekend, and Corbin going to South Laurel next week.

What were your thoughts on Danville Christian? I've only seen bits and pieces of some of their games. Had at least one kid that I thought was a nice player and another on their JV that I liked as well.

Honestly, Jack, I was bit underwhelmed. Corbin came into the game struggling and DC was just what the doctor ordered in the second half for the Hounds. I think Christian will compete well within their region(they won tonight at Danville by 27) but I don't see them faring well against top tier teams. Corbin and Ashland handed them back-to back 20+ point losses. I think the 7-footer had 2 points against Corbin( I might be wrong but I think that's correct). That should never happen. Don't see them beating really good teams.

I saw one of their really early games against Evangel. I thought Evangel was better last year than they are this season (but I also watched them play against DeSales and some other good teams in March instead of early December). Think they'll really miss Malonga this season. Hard for any team in Kentucky to lose a 6'10 player with a mid-major scholarship and expect them to be better.
Didn't really know what to expect from Danville Christian coming in but left thinking that they were a little better top to bottom than I might have been expecting (hadn't seen them last year). Definitely have some kids with a lot of talent that are still a bit raw but still have time to develop. Was a little surprised at how much some of their guards could do and how well everything seemed to blend.
I'm like you in that, from the limited amount I've seen, they're probably more capable of winning their region and being a tough out than they are to go toe-to-toe with a Trinity, Great Crossing, or Frederick Douglass. Because of how they're constructed, I'll probably give them a bit more leeway in terms of an overall ceiling than I would for other groups who've mostly spent years playing together. That shouldn't be taken as a knock on what they're doing though, as I'll be the last one to complain about schools having kids with different backgrounds.
