I was about to say the Rash kid at Belfry has the ball handling and shooting to be great. He works hard at his game and I think he is focused solely on one sport-basketball. He’s working on his skills and in the weight room. He’ll be as good as anyone around here in that age group. I want to see him be more physical and play better defense but that will come. He’s just a freshman but he’s a dandy. Cole Slone and Brody Little at Pikeville are already getting varsity minutes on a good team too. I look for those two to be fixtures/starters for the Panthers the next 3 seasons. Slone for JC is obvious and he’s going to be a star/already is. Brady Johnson at Valley is a player. Carter Parsons and Isaiah Allen for Betsy Layne. Chris Spriggs from Floyd Central is one of most athletic and quick guards around and can be great if he plays hard consistently and keeps his head. Braxton Keathley for Prestonsburg is excellent offensively but gotta play both ends and quit snow birding. I think he’s a great talent but has more to give. Plenty more but those stick out to me around 15th region. Ashland has a few. The Davis kid who is a sophomore is an incredible athlete. Boyd County has Spurlock who is the best of the all as a sophomore. One of the best sophomores in the state.

Slone - JC
Keathley - PBurg

Those two are the best on the 15th by a large margin and I think Slone is 1/2 notches above Keathley.

The biggest thing for me is level of competition and how good your team is. Putting up numbers as a freshman against really bad teams or on really horribly coached teams doesn’t mean a whole lot.

Rash kid has tons of potential and looks physically mature this year but him and Keathley have same issues. They lack a lot on the defensive end.

Weddington kid at Phelps gets a lot done without being overly athletic.

The 15th right now is lacking quality teams and coaching outside 3/4 places. So I expect some big numbers from younger kids.

Rash can play. Weddington can play. If they could have kept together they would have been a hard duo to deal with. If you sagged in on Weddington then Rash can hit multiple 3’s. If you try to go man to man on Weddington he is hard to deal with. They would get even better later in high school too. But it was not to be

Yes Sir. Jr. The way it with the portal now, a kid is better off graduating at 19. Up against 24-25 year olds now in college.

All good players but there are players on better team benches that are superior talents than some of those.

Zag as much as most of the time you are correct but this time you’re 100 percent wrong. A junior is considered in the good ol USA a upperclassman

According to Webster’s dictionary, an underclassman is a high school or college student who is not a senior. So by definition, anyone in the junior class or below are underclassmen. Look it up if you doubt me.

Freshmen as good or better than some on your initial list, yes. You named a few of them second go around. Several like them around the mountains that are just sitting behind starters on good teams. Roles may increase as the year goes on or maybe next year but doesn’t make them any less talented. Lots of sophomores same way.

In all seriousness, Sperry should have graduated last year, yet he’s a junior.  Go figure. I don’t know what u call him.

Your wrong too van hager

Says school or college so I’m going to say high school qualifies as a school.

A member of the freshmen or sophomore class van Hager is what Webster is saying. Where did you see junior or anything not a senior?
