LOL!! This is your take on the game?? 3 & 17 guess they should kneel it with 1:47 and risk a punt block? You've obviously not watched enough high school football to see some of the crazy things that can happen. It was only 14-0.

Another victim of growing up watching mercy rules. Here's a tip for you, stop watching sports all together.
My take on the game? Pikeville dominated from start to finish. Even on Racelands best drives of the day they were still no threat to score. The few good drives Raceland did put together was because of penalties by the Pikeville defense and Raceland still couldn’t come close. So to say that call was made because of fear of Raceland scoring two touchdowns with a minute to go is laughable at best. I’m sorry my post offended you so bad though. It will be ok.

Because 1A is trash lol. Eastern KY football is weak
Multiple state championships from multiple schools in the last 10 years says otherwise.

Eastern KY football has been just fine recently. Especially from the 13th and 15 region teams. If Hazard and Breathitt can get back on track from the 14th we would really be doing well. Terrible take by you.

Also in the last 2 weeks Raceland and Pikeville went and cleaned house against the Lexington and Louisville area Class A teams.  I also think Class A wasn’t terrible this year.  Middlesboro, Campbellsville, Sayre, and KCD were all solid teams and overall the Class A playoffs were the best that I’ve seen in several years.

Seems to be a pattern on here that teams don't lose games. They have bad coaches.

Congrats Pikeville!!

Might I suggest Beagle1 as well…

These Raceland seniors have nothing to hang their heads about, they represented their community well and took the Rams to Kroger Field two consecutive seasons.

Congrats to the Panthers on title #8!! This was the season for someone in the current alignment to knock them out of the Class A playoffs and it didn't happen.
#40
Congratulations to the Rams and Panthers on terrific seasons.

Hail Pikeville!

I’ll congratulate the Pikeville team on the win. They were better. The one thing I will say is I lost some respect for Pikeville today. The halfback pass at the end was absolutely classless. Total Paintsville move. Again congrats to the Pikeville kids. RAD OUT.

Raceland has gone to 2 straight state championship games. I know they wanted more, but that is still something to be proud of. They will eventually knock that door down and get them a title.

Everyone will have a different take on this, but I didn't consider that play running up the score.  I considered it putting the game out of reach, but that's just my opinion.

No sir, not offended. I laughed, that's why I started with a "LOL x !!" You're the one offended over a reasonable play. It shows you really don't know much about sports calling the play in that situation "laughable at best". Championship teams seal games not extend them.

As for the game, I didn't think Pikeville dominated from start to finish. Their defense was stout but I thought Raceland's was too. Pikeville turned them over and got the sacks was my biggest take on it. Offensively, Pikeville broke off two big TD runs and took care of the ball. Raceland had more first downs and had more sustainable drives but squandered their redzone opportunities. Flip the turnovers 3-0 in favor of Raceland and they win this game 90% of the time.

The play that I thought changed the flow of the game was when Raceland fumbled on a direct snap and lost 10 yards.  Raceland was driving the ball well and when that play stalled the drive it killed the momentum.  Raceland had opportunities to score on other drives as well but Pikeville’s defense stood strong and did what championship teams do and found a way to win.

Right now it’s weak but in the 2010’s EKY was the best in the state. A lot of great teams. Look at all the state championships from then from several programs

There will always be levels and Raceland isn’t there yet. I said Pikeville was 2-3 scores better than anyone in 1A and some scoffed. Hear me when I say Campbellsville was this years second best team. Scary for 1A is next years version of the Panthers will be better, probably by a good bit. They will win a 4th in a row.

(12-01-2023, 04:40 PM)2000PHS Wrote: I see why the first match up was 7-6. #35 is just that good. Raceland plays hard and deserved to be in the Championship but their offensive planning does not match the talent they have this year or have had for several years.
First matchup was a fluke.  Way h the game back and you’ll see Pikeville should have won that one 20-7 or 28-7 easily even without Anthony.

We've come to expect nothing less from you. I'm sure Pikeville will be heartbroken they don't have your approval to finish out a game how they see fit.

Late in the game with the ball, the norm is to get another first down and kneel out the clock. The penalty pushed them back to 3 & 17 and they ran the best play they felt would get them the first down. They risked an INT (even a pick 6) for the reward of closing out the game. That's what championship teams do! Other's play not to lose and give the ball back to their opponent. Quick strike and an onside kick has never ever happened with high school kids??? Right?

Some people are happy with moral victories.  21-0 made it sting a little more.  Coach McNamee is one of the classiest guys you will find.  His team routinely pulls starters even before running clocks. Fact is you have to go back quite a ways to see a Raceland team score much on Pikeville. 1-2 scores has been it.

Pikeville needs a flag!!! I don't care if it's an American flag or a school mascot flag, but they need a flag!!!!!

So far every other team has had a flag!!

I wouldn't be so sure about the slide. Raceland seems to be the popular place in area for parents to take their young players to. If nothing changes at Greenup and Russell, Raceland is going to continue to be good.

Wow, some thin skin on here today. Quick question tho, when did Paintsville ever try to run up the score or whatever your argument/statement would be ?

Congratulations to the Panthers on a well played game. Raceland fought hard, but #35 was an enigma today and couldn't be stopped. Pikeville special teams and the turnover numbers also counted. I think Pikeville had only 2 interceptions all year and doubled it today. Enjoy the championship, young men. You've worked extraordinarily hard this year on what was thought to be a rebuilding season, but you made it into a retooling season.

Raceland has turned the ball over quite a bit against better competition this year. Put in on the ground several times past few weeks. Knew a fumble was likely coming today with a wet football.  The interceptions was a bit of a surprise but not many teams try to throw a ton on Pikeville. They have the secondary to get more but teams have to throw more for them to have chances. They played a bunch of run heavy offenses. Campbellsville had some of the best balance and I think they beat Raceland if they would have played. State championship was won last week when Pikeville beat Campbellsville.
