Proposed 6 Class Football System For 2007 Through 2010
#31
I like the new system, more teams will be involved in the playoffs more than likely the lesser teams will be out in the first round. There will be 2 more state champions in the state, and that will give about another 100 or so kids bragging rights to be called state champs.

THUNDERCHILD Wrote:At first I don't think if it goes thru the championships will mean as much because the competition will be so spread out. But heck down the line they'll mean just as much as they do now. Let me put it this way, the teams that win will brag all the same.
Very true, the teams that win will still be remembered as Champions IMO and they should be proud of their accomplishments.

I'm sure they'll continue to play each other now. But there's nothing on the line except pride and bragging rights. But as far as district competition...it's over after 2006.

1v2, 3v4, 5v6, 7v8 in regionals

with 1/2 winner playing 3/4 winner and 5/6 winner playing 7/8 in the semis?

If so I like Pikeville's chances of making it to the carpet!! Not having to go through Beechwood every year

No, the road to State will still travel through the Beechwood Tigers most likely in the State Title game.

yea i knew that it was for next year if this 6 class realignment goes into affect but i hadn't heard anything about it... i personally don't like it because like the others said i think it is to spread out... i say stick with 4 classes

From what the KHSAA has said and done it looks as if it is 99.9% done.
#37
I like just because this may help the burg get through

So do you think this will hurt or help Lawrence County? With only a 4 team district it takes away some of the luster of being crowned district champs if there is only 4 teams playing in it anyway.

Good Question, but I would take my chances at the State finals, rather then having to play the day after Thanksgiving.

I tihnk that means 10 games on turf for the panthers, pending on how well they play, of course...

I wish they would do it this year I want a chance to play in 5a
#45
Im going to miss thoughs P-Burg vs Belfry playoff games
#46
Does this change the amount of games played per team in the playoffs?

No

so 87% of the teams (192 of 221) will make the playoffs.
A final vote should be held by mid-season.
I think it'll be close.

He said he liked Pikeville's chances of making it to the carpet with not having to go thru Beechwood and if Pikeville and Beechwood play once this new format goes in it will be in Louisville playing for a state title. For Pikeville/Belfry to go to state the road will not go thru Beechwood/Highlands but to win a state title it will they will have to beat them in Louisville.

That would be awesome if both were playing for a state title the same year. I think that Class A Region 4 is a big winner with this new format. The road to state is wide open but no doubt not as tough as the old/present format. Winning a state championship will still be very hard with Beechood or Mayfield most likely waiting in Louisville but the chances of a mountain team playing in Louisville for a state title improves a lot with this new format.
