Courier-Journal top ten all classes
#1
Here's this week's Courier-Journal top ten all class.  Still no Corbin.  Don't understand what he's seeing as the difference between Corbin and Covington Catholic other than he typically has little respect for any program from Eastern Kentucky.

1. St. X
2. Frederick Douglass
3. Boyle County
4. Male
5. Cov. Cath
6. Lexington Christian
7. Scott County
8. Trinity
9. Manual
10. Christian Academy-Louisville

I'm surprised Corbin isn't on here as well. Could probably make a case for Pikeville to be on here too, despite the loss to LCA. Just my opinion.

Not sure about any of this but as with any poll its very subjective. For example, KSR has Corbin raked #4 I will say one thing I went and looked at Calpreps who takes schools and through a program will predict scores between two teams. Here below is using the Calpreps here is the prediction of Corbin vs. all of the 25 ranked teams in the KSR poll. I will spoil the listing below in saying currently (it can change each week) that the first team in the KSR top 25 that they have Corbin beating is #14 Bowling Greenby only 1 point, but it went in to have the #15 ranked Pikeville defeating Corbin 24-21. They do have Corbin beating everyone else ranked 16-25. I'm not sure if the journal uses any program or its just subjective.

Here are the results from Calpreps:
#1 Boyle County 34 Corbin 21
#2 Male 28 Corbin 14
#3 Frederick Douglass 31 Corbin 14
#4 Corbin (1-0)
#5 St. Xavier 31 Corbin 21
#6 Scott County 30 Corbin 28
#7 Covington Catholic 31 Corbin 24
#8 Trinity 31 Corbin 14
#9 Christian Academy Louisville 27 Corbin 24
#10 Lexington Christian Academy 42 Corbin 38
#11 Mayfield 28 Corbin 27
#12 Beechwood 28 Corbin 22
#13 Manual 27 Corbin 17
#14 Corbin 36 #14 Bowling Green 35
#15 Pikeville 24 Corbin 21
#16 Corbin 28 Ashland 24
#17 Corbin 31 Owensboro Catholic 21
#18 Corbin 31 Highlands 28
#19 Corbin 28 Johnson Central 19
#20 Corbin 31 Raceland 21
#21 Corbin 34 Cooper 21
#22 Corbin 27 Central 13
#23 Corbin 31 Ballard 26
#24 Corbin 31 Pleasure Ridge Park 17
#25 Corbin 35 Bullitt East 21

Courier-Journal poll is viewpoint of high school writer Jason Frakes. He does some really good work, but is always slow to give recognition to teams from 13th through 16th regions. As for Calpreps, it's next to worthless right now. It's pretty good toward the post-season but not enough scores in the system for a few more weeks.

We'll know a lot more about who belongs or not over the next few weeks with games like LCA-CAL, Scott-Boyle, Cov Cath-Beechwood, Corbin-FDU, and Manual-CAL coming up.

FWIW, I'd probably go with
1. St. X
2. Frederick Douglass
3. Boyle
4. Male
5. Corbin
6. Scott County
7. LCA
8. Cov. Cath
9. Trinity
10. CAL

Not sure what to think about Trinity right now, I hesitate to put them this low but they've got some issues on offense. Center Grove is a good program, but vintage Trinity teams don't get blown out by Indiana squads.

I like it, except I would have had DuPont Manual @ #9 Central @ #10
with LCA #11 CAL @ #12

If it's like Cantrall ratings, Corbin hadn't played enough in state teams to qualify yet?
#9
Nope, this is just his top ten and Corbin hasn't cracked it yet.

Some things never change. When it comes to anything "East of the Winchester Wall " we can expect this from the Cj and LHL sports writers and others. Just like its always been for decades. Imo, Corbin should've been listed and Pikeville on the cusp of it.

You think there is a 26 point chasm between Manual and everyone else in the state?

They do it for clicks. That’s the way it’s always been.
The average BGR poster would end up beating them in a pick ‘em contest every year. Most of the time the “journalists” that get these assignments don’t even want them

Here's how Corbin does in a neutral field contest against each of the teams above, according to the computers of Calpreps :

1. St. X  beats Corbin 28-21.
2. Frederick Douglass  beats Corbin  31-21
3. Boyle County loses to Corbin 31-28
4. Male    beats Corbin 22-21
5. Cov. Cath   beats Corbin  34-22
6. Lexington Christian loses to Corbin 38-35
7. Scott County loses to Corbin 38-31
8. Trinity  beats Corbin 28-20
9. Manual  beats Corbin 22-14
10. Christian Academy-Louisville loses to Corbin 28-26
