Mr. Thomas had a huge night! Congratulations Bell County.
#3
I want to see Thomas play
#4
Congrats to Bell.  They didn't disappoint.  The Lions had no answer for Thomas. Truly a great athlete.
#5
Way to go Bobcats.
#6
Thomas was fantastic! Boyd left 2 td’s on the field, a fumble in the end zone and an interception in the end zone

This is still the best Boyd team in a while, but they made Thomas look like he was Ryan Switzer. They know what they need to work on before district play. The Boyd offense is pretty good.
#8
Thomas had 7 touches for over 200 in the first quarter. Does anyone know what he finished with?
#9
The Daily Independent says that Thomas ran for 486 yards!

For perspective, Ashland held Thomas to 40 yards rushing in their playoff game last season.

Congratulations to Bell county

Boyd played with grit last night and never gave up. 5 years ago they would have folded after the first quarter and it would have been an early running clock. I think they program is going in the right direction.

As for Bell, as everyone has already said Thomas is a great player but if I’m a Bell County fan I would also be concerned about giving up 41 points and getting picked apart defensively by Boyd.

Yes, I actually thought that Boyd had a couple of turnovers in the Redzone that might have made this a closer score of a game. To me, Bell County offense was just unstoppable, if they got the ball more, they would have scored more. Boyd is definitely heading in the right direction. I like the play calling with the QB and short passes. I wished alot more schools would do this. But a fun game to watch. I wonder how many yards Thomas ended up with?

A lot of people have said all you had to do to beat Bell County is stop RB Daniel Thomas. That seems to be a lot easier said than done.

That's called defense. My team left 10 touchdowns on the field last night, because they couldn't move the ball Smile

It aint happening. I didn't get to see any film on this Bell County team before the North Game. In saying that, they have a line that will block, and it gives him the room to run. He can make cuts and sees the field really well. Then when he gets in the open field, he's gone. Looks like a small tornado running..... Smile

I was gonna say, He and the offensive line are a lot stronger than last year.

Its gonna take a very good and disciplined defense to stop the Bell County team in 3A...They are going to have a good year....A lot of wins...Thomas will have a lot of yards...

Thomas not only had all the rushing yards… had a 80 plus yard pick six too. I can’t even imagine what the stats will be. Another year of being the states leading scorer for sure. I don’t think a team will hold him to under 250 for a while as north may be the best defense they play all year. As for the defense, lotta mistakes and room to improve, boyd has a mobile qb and he gave bell issues. The boys QB kept the plays alive for sometimes 10 seconds and was impressive to watch. I think it will be ok tho since bell had the ball for a total of 6 minutes in the first 3 quarters combined, and it’s hard on a defense to be on the field for 90 percent of the game. Bell usually wins on time clock control, but can’t really do that when they break 70 yard runs, a tight end dump off pass for 85 yards, 2 defensive touchdowns, etc.

Evan Ferguson led Coal Grove to the regional finals in 2017. He can coach. Not surprising to see Boyd making progressions.

I was telling someone last night that Boyd and Raceland would have been a good game this year.

Agree 100 percent. I would like to see Boyd, Raceland, Greenup, Russell and Ashland play each other every year. Good gates, good traditions and the games would be well-contested especially with Boyd on the trajectory it is on. I played for Russell and we played the other four each of my four seasons in high school. The only team we beat all four years was Boyd but they were down at that time. Raceland and Ashland had a winning record against us and Greenup beat us my senior year.
