Corbin/North Hardin Cancelled for Saturday
#1
North Hardin has decided not to come back to Mercer County and play today against Corbin according to sources.
#2
That stinks.
#3
I think Woodford County and Simon Kenton did the same thing and cancelled that game as well.
#4
is it a forfeit?

They noticed you were trying to recruit their players and got out of Dodge.

When playing the game would do zero to help your program and take at least $2K to travel back if you weren't being paid travel expenses it's better to take the L that you knew you were getting anyway.

It's an RPI killer for the Hounds, they'll be running clock in district and playoffs until they hit state semifinals as far as I can see, then they may/could end up meeting BC there if I'm not mistaken on how the RPI and the bracketing works. That'd suck...Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, Corbin will still separate from Boyle IMO. Johnson Central will have a date with the top seed IMO. Corbin and Covington Catholic may end up playing 3rd round.

Forfeit counts as a win. Shouldn’t do anything to RPI.
#14
KHSAA has ruled the game a no contest.
#15
I was under the impression that it was a no contest if it was cancelled due to weather and they just be done with it last night. Was told it had to be officially rescheduled (today at 3) and then if a team didn’t want to show, it could be deemed a forfeit and not hurt rpi.

So is it a forfeit or a no contest? If it is a forfeit, it won't hurt Corbin's RPI.
#17
Sounding like a forfeit.

“ OFFICIAL: The Corbin vs. North Hardin game is a “no-contest” since last night’s game had not started.

Corbin can attempt to find an opponent during its bye week but since it’s Week 11, it’s going to be tough to find someone to play.”

Not good for the fighting Greers...

So was the game never rescheduled for today?

I just saw that update. North Hardin is saying they couldn’t travel or something. I’m sure Corbin would’ve driven to Radcliffe. It’s going to be tough to find an opponent. Corbin and Pulaski both have the 27th of October off. Maybe they could do some schedule shuffling to give better options. Hell, I don’t know.

How do the playoffs work this season with the new allignment? Is Cov Cath in Corbin's sister district like JC was in the past?  I see Cov Cath running the table(although Beechwood may be an obstacle). With Corbin losing out on playing a 6A opponent, Corbin potentially going to Covington in Round 3  brings back nightmarish memories for Corbin fans who remember the many trails of tears coming back home from northern KY along I-75.

I don’t know exactly what the rules are, but if one team wants to play and the other doesn’t, that sounds like a forfeit to me. Especially if reasonable circumstances are present. They aren’t requesting to play on a Thursday a 9am. Lil Dud better get on the phone and find an opponent. But I’d say the ones that would play won’t be getting a call. I watched Cov cath last night and unless my red glasses are really tinted, that’s who I’d want to play come playoffs. Only watched a half, but looked a pro style offense with not many skilled athletes, and some questionable play calling. Line looked big and athletic but HH was getting pressure.

I don't mind playing Cov. Cath. in our new $9 million Oz . Just have a lot of bad northern KY memories.  Very back track record for the Hounds traveling to the northern most part of the state. When Corbin has gone North,  the game goes South for the Hounds , historically.

Playoffs are the same as last season. The only thing that is different is enter in the picture Covington Catholic. So no easy game in the 3rd round in the East for the Top seed. The two top teams will play quality opponents instead of only one team.

I watched Covington Catholic in n person. They are worthy. Well coached team. Athletic. Tight End is the real deal.

I look for JC to be #4 come playoff time. They will have 1, probably 2 losses.  Cov Cath will probably be undefeated(although Beechwood may have something to say about that. Cov Cath plays a lot of 5A and 6A schools, which will boost their RPI. I could see them with the top RPI if they run the table. Both Corbin and Boyle have Freddy D to contend with. Plus, Boyle has to get by LCA, as well.

Not hard to imagine Corbin @ Boyle   or Boyle@ Corbin in round 3.  Anyone else envision the fighting Greers travelling to meet former Comrade, Haddix in mid November?
#28
It might happen. But the FD game will be the decider.

Indeed.

Bull, you are really good at this stuff. Look into your crystal ball and project the top 4 seeds at the end of round 2 . Just for sh!ts and giggles...

1.Boyle
2.Corbin
3.Covington Catholic
4. Johnson Central/Ashland

I think the matchups that will make the biggest impacts for the top teams in the East are:

Boyle/FD
Corbin/FD
JC/Pikeville
JC/Ashland
JC/Corbin
CC/Beechwood

If CC beats Beechwood then CC might be a possibility to move up on RPI to play at home round 3.

The rest depending on a win or loss with FD or other opponents.

It’s going to be interesting down the stretch.
