This should be a dandy.  I can't wait to see how this one plays out.

Raceland is several scores better than the other teams in Ashland's 4A district. Ashland could lose to Raceland at home and still breeze through their 4A district.
If Ashland loses at home to Raceland, the Tomcats will have very little chance of beating JC on the road and that game will decide the district title. Stranger things have happened but a loss on Friday will make Ashland a longshot to win the district.

I'm a fan of Raceland and Ashland and win or lose I don't think Ashland will be competitive with Johnson Central or any of the other top teams in 4A.  After the championship Ashland has been trying to reboot but it hasn't happened yet. I hope I'm wrong and admittedly I'm not as close or as informed to high school football as I have been in the past so I may be wrong.  Coach Tackett is a fine man and a great coach so I hope it happens and a competitive district would definitely help both Johnson Central and Ashland.

I’m also not as informed about the Tomcats as I once was but have heard they have a lot of talent- speed on this years squad. Tomcats winning that Lineman challenge gives me some hope their OL - DL will be pretty good this year which is what they always need to compete with Johnson Central. This game I believe comes down to which Defense has the better game.

Which every team wins the district needs to have the best possible RPI going forward. I am not sure when the RPI is applied this season, but going on the road against Covington Catholic, Corbin, Boyle County, etc. should be avoided if at all possible. Raceland is a very important game for Ashland and Pikeville is a key matchup for JC.

Huge chance for a leg up in RPI this week. Raceland vs Ashland/Pikeville vs Pulaski, HUGE RPI swing in Class A could happen right off the bat...

Gonna go with Raceland in what I expect to be a knock down drag out fight. 28-27

Things sound a lot different in Raceland after the Wheelersburg game. The hype train has left the station and the struggle bus is on its way. Ashland wins this game by 14 or more.

I get bored every now and again.

Tomcats too much for the Rams this year. Skill positions, both sides of the line and kicking game all advantage Ashland
Tomcats 36
Rams 30

There’s definitely some holes to fill upfront from last year after watching practice, I felt better about the run game than I had previously thought it would be. That being said, we definitely do not have the depth upfront we have had in the last few years and we have had some guys with some lingering camp/scrimmage injuries. I know Wallace has been out for a bit and I’ve seen two key pieces of the OL in boots and braces. I wasn’t at the Wburg scrimmage but those guys being out could make a big difference. It still worries me that we were unable to score a varsity TD though. But then again, Mike has really changed his philosophy over the last few seasons on how he approaches these scrimmages. I know there were a ton of reps given out vs Belfry. But I would assume that in the Wburg scrimmage the 1s saw most of the reps, especially in the first quarter. JV was 7-7 with a final of 28-7. So it seems the defense didnt just get blown away, from a score like that it seems they were on the field a lot. Which means the most work to be done is on the other side of the ball.

I think everyone on the “hype train” has cooled their breaks before this season even started, as we all knew full well we lost a lot upfront and even with what skill returns, the schedule doesn’t do us any favors in terms of getting wins. Idc what the regular season looks like, as long as we are healthy and improve at the end of 10 games, we will be ready come play off time to make a run.

Because of injuries or something else?
#47
I’m guessing injury
#48
Who’s out?
#49
If anyone of any significance is out for Ashland, that will be enough to tip the scales to Raceland. This should be that close of a game. Really, that's a shame if players can't show up healthy for the opener, because the Tomcats have about 3 games of interest on their schedule and this is one of them with Boyd and Johnson Central being the other 2. If Ram-a-Devil is correct, and he usually is, Rams win by 3.
#50
I’m gonna recant my previous prediction. Not because of RAD statements but because I’m felling a little better about this match up for the Rams. If we are able to get our backs out in space on some swing passes and complete some passes by rolling the pocket I believe the Rams will be fine.

Raceland 18
Assland 10

That will be the key factor is if we can utilize Lindys mobility. Watched some of the Wburg game on film and we had protection issues at times. Gotta boot or grip it and rip it!!!
#52
Maybe….but Lindy is not our QB

You’re acting like Jet now….is he rubbing off on you? You gotta cut a fellow Rambler some slack for fat fingering early in the season
#54
What are you talking about? Jet steals my material.

I almost forgot. Rams by eleventy billion!

Lmao “fat fingering”…that’s one of my all time favorite posts…fwiw…this is the artist formerly known as Scotty_Bronson…something happened with the old account and had to come up with something else. So glad we have finally reached the countdown to kickoff. Should be a good game this evening. Goina be a great night for HS football!!

Glad you are still here pundit fka Scotty. R-A-D too but don't tell him.

It’s game day. Both teams want the win to start the season off right as beating either is a quality W. If Ashland has a slew of injuries it will make things more difficult but they developed a lot of depth last season which should help lessen the blow. Perfect night for Football and good luck Rams the rest of the way but tonight GO TOMCATS!!!!
#58
I'm going raceland 28 ashland 18.
All because Lundy remembers what went on last year!! Yea he mightve lost a couple guys up front but Logan Lundy isn't the star he is by sitting around on his hands!! Raceland relievers and rb's on a wheel route are going to burn the kitty cats up
