Is this the way its going to be?
07-17-2006, 05:28 PM
Is it just me, or do some of the districts seem a little..... spread out?
07-17-2006, 05:48 PM
Very intresting! Where is Campbellsville in all of this? I saw Taylor County in 3A and I looked for Campbellsville in 1A or 2A and did not see them.

Going to be strange with four team districts and all making the playoffs.

Now will Highlands and Mason County play up?
07-17-2006, 08:01 PM
Well, well, well. I have mixed feelings about this one.
Cons:
No more Belfry vs. Prestonsburg playoff games
Back in AAA with Ft.Thomas
Pros:
Not many, I like the 4 team district though
-----------------------------------------------
By far the most loaded class besides 6A is 2A, it is loaded from top to bottom.
I really see Prestonsburg being the most dominant 2A Mountain Team. But when they get into the playoffs, they will have to face the likes of Owensboro Catholic, Newport Central Catholic, Lloyd Memorial,Danville,Bardstown and Ft. Campbell, Ft.Knox,Lou.DeSales & Glasgow.

Breathitt would have an easy district, not good news as far as preparation for the post-season IMO.

How will the playoffs work? Will they against an opposing district or play in their district?
07-17-2006, 11:25 PM
As far as I know it will remain with the new rule from this year. Play within the district.

A belfry and highlands matchup would be fun to see.. for a 3a championship

1v2, 3v4, 5v6, 7v8 in regionals
with 1/2 winner playing 3/4 winner and 5/6 winner playing 7/8 in the semis?
If so I like Pikeville's chances of making it to the carpet!! Not having to go through Beechwood every year

I dont like Lawrence Countys district, it needs more teams than just 4.
07-18-2006, 01:23 PM
I dont like this at all.
07-18-2006, 02:05 PM
the Belfry P-Burg rilvary will stay as is considering each school will now have 5-6 non district games...

Campbellsville, Paintsville and Lynn Camp will have something to say about who goes as well. No Beechwood or Mayfield in semis, it would make it a very wide open for the right to go to state.

i havent heard anything about Somerset moving up tp 2A
07-18-2006, 06:16 PM
At first I don't think if it goes thru the championships will mean as much because the competition will be so spread out. But heck down the line they'll mean just as much as they do now. Let me put it this way, the teams that win will brag all the same.
07-18-2006, 06:19 PM
I don't like it....... too spread out, for one, and no CovCath Highlands
QB Challenge Champion, Just Pitching Champion, Midi Golf Champion- My Greatest Accomplishments in Life

Highlands might elect to play up in 4A.

This won't be the only districts with 4 teams. Look at it this way well always make the playoffs and will have six games open to play anyone anywhere.
07-18-2006, 07:14 PM
I like it, a chance to play someone that we might not get a chance to play any other time.
