I don’t see anyone putting a running clock on Corbin. Despite some big loses in personnel, I think Corbin will reload and handle Pulaski a lot easier than they did last season. As for the FD game, I think FD is the undeniable favorite but this is the sort of game that prepares teams for championship runs. Kudos to Corbin for scheduling it, it will take battles like that to have a chance to win 4A this season.

I see 8-2 or 9-1 on the season but 7-3 is a possibility I suppose. I notice that Pigskin is going to be at Cumberland College and assume that is because the stadium renovations will likely still be going on. Are they expecting Campbell Field do be complete by the Frederick Douglass game? That would be a heck of a game to break in the new stadium and 100th year of Corbin football.
I also wonder if they will bring out the retro maroon throwback jerseys like they did in 1998 for the 75th year? I saw that the Varsity Club were selling purple and gold Corbin Railroaders shirts stating that was the original colors and name. That would be something to see Corbin wear a special purple and gold uniform. I think I'd stick with maroon though.
Who are the other potential new players?

FD should be the game they break in the new field. Corbin was trying to schedule North Laurel for that game but North wanted to play at their place this year and Corbin's the next. Hence, why that game isn't getting played.

The biggest game of the year for Corbin is the Johnson Central game at Corbin. I honestly think the home field advantage with all the fans will make that game a championship type game at mid season. The importance of that one game is huge because it forces the loser to go on the road and potentially play Boyle at Boyle. It’s not in stone but I think that may be the way it falls in place. I don’t see Corbin losing 3 games in the regular season. Not happening. If Corbin generates enough offense to beat Frederick Douglass then Johnson Central will have a tuff time beating Corbin. If Frederick Douglass defeats Corbin easily then the JC game will be a toss up. I’ll say the Corbin/JC game may be the best game in the state that week it’s played. Get your tickets now.

I do think Corbin and North Laurel needs to schedule each other. You’re correct about the issue, both sides couldn’t make it happen this year. It was definitely on the table and almost a done deal.

One thing about this season that I can’t wait. Is to see Kid Elam throwing the ball around the field. The kid was in his first year as the starting QB for Corbin. So like others who think their team will be better with experience. How good do you think Corbin will be with the experience that Kid Elam got last season. The kid is tuff. The offense will be very hard to stop. The defense brings back enough experience in some key positions to be one of the last 3 teams standing IMO.

Corbin will have a good year. Elam is a top 5 qb in the state. But the defense and the offense is too conservative. They don’t make adjustments, and that’s on the coaches. If you guys think for 1 second the clowns such as mills, greer are gonna win the big game you need to push the reset button upstairs. No matter how bad our kids want it, they don’t make in game decisions. I think we lose 2 games in the regular season. If we beat JC in the regular season they start talking about the banquet in mid November. Very hard to beat the same good team twice. Also. Haddix owns Greer. Just like he owned Dudley.

I just really have a hard time understanding what the big deal is, that’s 42 play off games and you’ve only beat 9 teams with 5 plus wins that some rich tradition you got going on ?(04-12-2023, 11:58 PM)ScratchGolf Wrote: Nah just so long ago that no one cares when it exactly was, I just know that Corbin is irrelevant at basketball and footballLaurel Co had the best basketball prospect this area has ever and most likely will ever see for 5 years of high school basketball and managed to piss it away with two first round exits in the sweet sixteen…Corbin has the same amount of basketball state championships as South Laurel and 1 more than North Laurel….Football isn’t even worth discussing with you rubes most of you don’t know the difference between a golf tee and a set of shoulder pads. The only thing relevant about football in Laurel Co is the number of times Pulaski Co has curb stomped them and the refusal to play Corbin along with excuses and incessant whining about recruiting, the last time I watched either N/L or S/L play I was torn between puking in the stands and pulling my eyeballs outta my head….
You don’t have to continue living like this there are people who can help….

1. Boyle
2. Corbin/Johnson Central. Corbin beats JC 2tds regular season.![]()
3. Franklin County
4. Covington Catholic
Elam is a special talent.

From what I understand, CCH returns all of their top skill players from last year's team, which IMO was better than Johnson Central and as good or better than Corbin. I would not be shocked if an undefeated Johnson Central meets Covington Catholic for the regional title on the road. I don't think that there is going to be much difference between Corbin, Johnson Central, and Covington Catholic. Any one of the three could make it to Kroger Field but Johnson Central and Covington Catholic are facing the toughest road.
