North/South ----

North won both meetings this season , 66-52 at North and 63-46 at South.

Will the South rise again?   Will General Shepherd burn through the nets at the Arena?  Can Major Payne halt North's advance on Lexington?  Will General Davis be forced to surrender toGeneral Valentine in front of the big Peterbilt?

South is hoping to return to the championship game of the region for the first time since the 2016 title game , where they suffered a tough OT loss to Corbin. North is looking to play in its fourth regional title game in five years.

Barbourville/Corbin---


In the previous meeting this season, Corbin escaped Barbourville with a 59-57 win. In that game, Hayden Llewellyn,  Corbin's leading scorer on the season, did not play.

Will Matthew Warren, who suffered an injury near the end of the Clay County game, be able to go? He scored 22 points in the two- point loss to Corbin earlier in the season. 


Barbourville will be trying for its first appearance in the championship game of the region since 2006 , where they lost by a point in the title game to Steve Wright's SL Cardinals.  Corbin is looking to return to the title game for the first time since 2018, where they beat SL in an overtime thriller.

South Laurel keeps it fairly close in the first half and North comes out of the half and erases any doubt by the midpoint of the 3rd quarter.

Barbourville slows the game to a grinding halt and keeps it close for a quarter and a half before Corbin starts to really put some distance between the two.

I was hoping the kid would be able to go. If he can play reasonably well, it at least gives the Tigers a puncher's chance but that's about all. When Corbin won by a deuce earlier in the season Llewellyn didn't play and Warren had 22. I think Corbin probably advances pretty easily with a double digit win.
