Passed away would have been more respectful than has died. He was a great coach.

There was nothing wrong, whatsoever, with Westside's wording. when did the word "died" become disrespectful?

Every person in the school system in Knott County who had a hand in running him off, should be run out of town. All he had given the county and on top of that was in a fight for his life. It’s embarrassing that stuff like that happens. From Hoover down anybody who had a hand in it should be sent packing.

I agree. And the statement released by the Knott County Athletics on Facebook is a slap in the face to his family. It sickens me they would write something acting as though they feel bad when they added to this poor man’s stress the past year when he dedicated so much to their system.

Passed away just sounds better dude, and could have added more to it. Here, let me show you.

Coach King fights his last battle, sadly passing away this evening. Or…BB King Died. But hey, y’all do you.

Furthermore, y’all need to get your facts straight. You know nothing of what was going on inside the Knott County system. You can recognize that someone isn’t physically capable of giving the program what is needed, but still have immense respect for him. It’s just a sad situation all the way around.

Rest in Peace Coach King. Guy was a pure winner. Absolutely loved the game of basketball. Don’t know him personally but he sure dedicated a lot of his life helping others through the game of basketball. You will be missed Coach and Thank You for all your time and sacrifices you made helping the kids of Knott County and Breathitt.

I bet you're a joy to be around. Just take the L on this one. Westside reported the headline and didn't inject his personal feelings into it. Nothing improper about it. In fact it allows everyone to add their personal feelings to it. I'm sure everyone who knew BB is very sad today.

I remember watching BB in the 1981 regional tournament. He was a very good player. The Patriots had won the region in ‘80 but had lost some players and Breathitt County was heavily favored to win it in ‘81. Knott Central had already lost to the Bobcats 3 times during the season by double digits, but BB rose to the occasion and had a great championship game and the Patriots pulled out a close win. He’s always been a winner whether playing or coaching.
Condolences to the family and friends of this good man.

As someone who has edited a billion obits, or at least it seems that way, that's the only way to write it. It is interesting though that more and more people in recent years wanted to try to find a hundred different ways to write it.

You kids need to quit arguing about dead or passed away. Talk about being disrespectful. You all are as bad as the KNOTT COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION.
