Okay, folks. This one took some work and a bunch of Thanksgiving hours. Hope you enjoy.  Here are the undefeated teams going into the State Semifinal round for the past 25 years.

This season, there are seven teams that are undefeated---  Mayfield, Mason County, Bardstown, CAL, Corbin , Frederick Douglass, and Southwestern.

 Since 1998, there has been an average of 4.84 undefeated teams entering the State Semifinal round of the playoffs. Since going to six classes, the most number of undefeated teams entering the semifinal round was 10 in 2019, while least number of undefeated teams was 2 , occurring  in 2014  Over the last quarter century, on the average, only about 1.6 of the undefeateds in the Semifinal round went on to win a state title. Never has more 3 of the Semifinal round undefeateds went on to win a state crown.
Here's a breakdown, beginning in 1998. 

Note:   From '98- '06  there were only 4 classes, hence only 16 teams participating in the Semifinal round, rather than the current 24.

That's what you call a storied program!!!  Mayfield has 933 wins all-time. That ranks them the #3 all-time winningest football program ... IN THE NATION!!!

I wonder how many times there has been a matchup in the semis or finals where both teams are undefeated. If CAL wins then 3A will be two undefeated teams playing next week. Mason and Bardstown are both 13-0. If Southwestern and Douglass win then 5A will be a matchup of 2 undefeated teams also.
