Who have you got in this titanic struggle?
I think I’d rather let Mark Maynard use his way back game predictor and watch a simulation of this year’s Raceland squad against the Eagles from a decade ago. That would be more interesting than the practice that will take place in Mossy Bottom this Friday.

Well hopefully they can get a running clock quickly, & the young kids can get some valuable reps.

This is one of those games that the Rams will have to find ways not to score to prevent running it up.
Rams 56
Eagles 0
Rams 56
Eagles 0

No matter what the score is. Raceland should not play a starter after first quarter.

Looking for another incredibly boring 2-4 quarters.

For a team like Raceland, this game along with the BL game last week are so difficult to get up for. A good opportunity to get some younger guys some reps and see them in a live game environment. For the 1s they just need to play solid assignment football and take the last 24-36 minutes off.

Can you imagine the uproar if a recording of one of the McPeeks talking to a prospect would have been released like it was of the Ashland basketball coach? The Fairview school would have likely been burnt to the ground. The hostility of the local schools towards Fairview from 2010 to 2013 was off the charts. It was in all of the local schools best interest to end what they had going in the Wood.

I know. It’s ironic.
Serious question, though, for the Raceland supporters. Would you rather Fairview have a few transfers and have this be a late season game to look forward to or do you like playing the decimated Fairview team better?
I enjoyed the rivalry while it lasted because it eclipsed even the Ashland-Russell game for the spotlight on this week during those years.
I realize the Eagles went overboard in 2012 with a stacked team of transfers but the 2 years before that were only a couple of transfers each year. I for one wish it all hadn’t crashed down on Fairview because I liked the local rivalry. Now it’s just kind of seems like a sad game to me. Maybe there are some Ram fans who enjoy it still?

For me it is sad to see what this game has become because I played when it was a very bitter rivalry. I played during the Chris Jennings era and the rivalry then may have been more intense that the McPeek years because the players on the field didn’t like each other and there was a lot of personal beef in those games. I also think their 03 team would have crushed any of the McPeek teams due to their depth and having one of the best running back duo’s to come through the 16th region with Chris Jennings and Stephen Crisp.

That's funny. Clint Westwood has told me eagles have a secret weapon coming Friday night. Eagles score early and south Greenup has to come back to win

They didn’t have to recruit when I was in school. They had some really good teams. I believe one year Raceland was AP number 1 and Fairview came to Raceland and won.

Before Armco/AK Steel and CSX/Raceland Rail Yards moved out of town, it was conceivable that both Fairview and Raceland could field competitive teams without “transfers” or “recruits”, whatever you choose to call them. However, since there are no jobs in these areas now, players from other schools are the lifeblood of these 1A programs. Fairview went too far too fast a decade ago and the whole thing crashed, leaving them with a team with zero football transfers now. To your credit, Raceland has done a better job than Fairview over the years of making their school and football program attractive to potential new players so they won the war between the two schools. It will be a long time before that ever gets turned around for the Eagles. That would require more parent and community interest, better and newer facilities, better coaching, better youth programs, and more administrative commitment. It’s not going to happen, so we’re left with this debacle of a game for the foreseeable future.

2nd quarter running clock for the Rams then the young guys get some game experience.

Comment about the Fairview youth program. They had a class a few years back that had some depth and some tallent. The best 2 basketball players, arguably the 2 best baseball players, and the 3 best football players from that group though, are now at Raceland. The 3rd baseball stud they have is still there but I wont be shocked to see him at Ashland now that his brothers have both graduated. Fairview is struggling with numbers in their youth program year in and year out. This year they only have a 2nd and 4th grade team if im not mistaken and alot of the Fairview kids are playing JFL ball at Ashland. That doesnt spell good news for their future.

14-0 I believe

34-6. Fairview just ran a kickoff back for a TD. Somewhere in the back half of the 2nd quarter i believe.
