grass

Did they get it done or started yet.

Well the sad thing is they just got the last grass not more than two or three years ago. Because the school or who ever takes care of it put the wrong chemicals on the grass it killed it, so they just tore it up and pur new down. It must be nice to be able to afford all that. But glad to see the scchool system behind them.

I heard the city paid for it, not the school system.......................

I seen them working on it yesterday ! It's about time they got rid of that so called grass !
#10
It was not the school system that paid for it. It was the city, the city is also supposed to maintain the field I believe.
#11
I thought the city owned the new field? I know the guys from Stone Crest took care of it in the begining.

How does Stonecrest look?.....Did they have the same trouble with their golf course like P-Burg did with there football field?

Stone Crest looks great ! Thats a beautiful Course !

I think Prestonsburg puts sinks too much money into their football team and not enough into other sports. Prestonsburg has been in need of some new basketball goals for about 5 years now, but can't afford it because the football team had to have a new weight lifting facility. If you so much hang on one of the goals at P-burg, it comes tumbling down. The baseball team needs a new field. Everytime someone pisses and flushes, Archer Park goes under water. I mean I can think of many things that school needs other than new grass every two years for the football team. Why don't the city take care of other sports?

Not calling you out in anyway, but you know most of the money given to the team is raised by the team. They have a bingo night two or three nights a week down at Court Street Bingo. Thats where it comes from.

The City takes care of Stone Crest golf course too. Why they don't help in other sports too? They may have I don't know, but BCF4L is right, The field house needs new goals and four extra goals that would eather come down from the top or heck just removable goals so more than two players can shoot free throws at time. Theres a real scheduling problem with all the other squads,(girls basketball, boys basketball, cheerleaders, dance team) for gym time. Extra goals might help some with that too. I know it would have helped the free throw shooting over the past years. Oh, ya Blackcat75 is correct in that alot of the money is raised by football boosters. The weight room was built mostly by the city as well, not the school system. But (no offense) the football players get most of the time in there.

I understand that and the boosters club has the right to do whatever they want to raise that money. I applaud all the parents for their efforts to raise money for the team. Basketball and baseball have the same fundraisers as the football team, but can't seem to gather as much money. I just think that if the city can help the football team, then they should scatter the money around and help the other sports at the high school. That's all that was intended in my post.

the school system is DEFINATLY not behind the football team, but yes, the wrong chemicals were put on but that was by the city, and to compensate for the grass, we got new sod.

I was in Prestonsburg today and the field looks good, also heard the players cant get on the new grass for 6 weeks.....I guess P-Burg will be practicing up at Stonecrest that footballfield is done.

Is $25,000 a high price or fair price for new sod.

I heard it was the guys from Stonecrest are the ones who killed the grass to start with....which is probably why the school system didn't have to pay to replace it.....you'd think if they could maintain all those greens at the golf course a football field should have been a no brainer.:yikes:
