Somerset 35 Paintsville 34
#1
Final

Wild ending.  Paintsville goes for 2 to win it with no time left on the clock after what was a wild two penalties that made the 2 point conversion basically impossible.

Sounds like it got pretty chippy at the end. That's very un-Paintsville like. /s

I’ll just speak to the 2pt attempt to win the game. It appears the officials got the call right as we only had 6 in the LOS. However, IMO, they was a clear PF on Somerset for refusing to let go of Phelps’ leg after he was already 3 yards deep in the end zone and had attempted to pull his leg away 3 times. We are taking 3-5 seconds after the whistle. Instead of offsetting penalties Paintsville was also called for a PF when some players came over to free Phelps from the defender.

Congratulations to Somerset they played hard and won.

That crew was horrible the entire game. They seemed to want to throw the flag then ask the rest of the crew what to actually call.  The play that Paintsville tied the game in regulation was almost as bizarre.  The Paintsville player caught the ball and ran towards the pylon.  One official comes running over to seemingly indicate that he was out at the one, another throws a flag where the play ended.   Never did see a touchdown signal.  They huddle and talk to both coaching staffs and then line Paintsville up for an extra point.   They then mark off a penalty on Paintsville on the kickoff for sideline interference.   Just a weird series of events.
On that conversation, I thought the call was going to be illegal formation, then dead ball offsetting personal fouls that would have had  them do the try from the 6.
On another note, who was the guy on the Paintsville sideline that charged the refs after the game and drew a flag and ejection after the game was over?  Was it a coach or parent?

I was listening to the Facebook live video and the guy commentating said the AD was even getting after it. Not sure if that was the guy that got thrown out for the after game shenanigans.

That's what I heard on the broadcast as well.  The kids on both teams handled the sketchy officials a lot better than the adults.

This is somewhat accurate…… the Phelps kid walked in, and was not on the ground for  his leg to be held. #2 kid who btw already had 1 personal foul came in and was stomping a Somerset player on the ground. That’s why he was ejected from the game. Kid was wild ……. Even trying to fight his own players during the game. Refs were awful…… awful …… kids on both sides handled it well ….. with the exception of #2.

That’s usually how it goes and the guy doing the live stream even said that at the end. Kept saying look out there, the kids are fine, they are going to be fine. What most adults don’t realize is 90% of the time 30 minutes after a game kids don’t care anymore about it.
