This is a game that could stay closer than it should at least for a half. Raceland is coming off of huge wins against the two traditional NEKY powerhouse programs and we have the big game with Highlands coming up in 2 weeks. Setting that table has all the makings for overlooking a team. If the Rams come out inspired it isn’t close out the gate but if we come out unfocused Rowan may hang around for a while. Either way, I like the Rams by 4+ scores.

My predictions are going to get a lot better now that the Rams have checked off the destruction of their 2 rivals. The remainder of the Raceland schedule, through no fault of their own, is full of cupcakes compared to the Rams with the exception of Highlands and perhaps Lawrence at the season's end.

I figured this was a year for Rowan to prove they were better as their coach has been there now for 7 lackluster seasons. They have big numbers. Surely there is some football talent there?

After seeing the East Carter result, though, it's obvious this is the same old Rowan. Raceland wins this one big by simply taking football more seriously as a school than does Rowan.

Big chance for the Rams to come out proving they are contender. Not by beating Rowan, because they should. But by coming out and taking care of things early. Leaving no doubt.
#7
Warm up game before the highlands game in 2 weeks.

Raceland 49
Rowan County 07

This one hasn’t got much play. Is this a trap game? Rowan is enormous up front and has some good backs.
#13
This one is a good one to measure our teams focus and maturity. Last year we went up 3 or 4 scores and let them right back in with big plays. If we are the team we want to be, we go out and handle business early.
#14
Raceland will score 60 in this one.

Rowan is very sizeable upfront. Question will be this year is if anyone can have the speed or scheme to match our front 7. This is the best defense i have seen in a good while. Especially against the run. I think we have allowed something like 34 yards in 2 games. I think the early big plays Russell managed were an eye opener that exposed some things in the secondary, but the staff did a great job neutralizing that after those two plays. The team is still focused but this could be a trap game a bit with Highlands lurking and coming off a big win over a rival that really stoked the fire all they could to get us distracted.

Hell some of em are still trying to stir cold coals

Rams by eleventy billion

Is there any chance that East Carter is a real powerhouse this season and we may be underestimating Rowan?
#19
Cant see that being the case. Comparing schedules amd production on both sides of the ball, East is the best team out of East, West, Rowan, Montgomery Co, Newport, and Mason County. All of those teams have played each other in some form or fashion the first 2 weeks of the season. I would say East is probably better than Ashland at this point. East may be the 2nd best team in NEKY right now. But I dont think they are so good that the Rowan game is a deception. Jmo.

I look for this game to be ugly in the first half. Rams have played half of a quarter in two games below what we expect out of them….that’s pretty dang good. I think the Rams will come out flat in this one and put it out of reach early in the 4th

Rowan defense the best we have seen in 2022. We better not let them hang around. Hayes is a big play waiting to happen.

Raceland better wake up in the 2nd half. Rowan County came to play and they don’t care how good the Rams think they are. I was worried Raceland would overlook this team after all of the distractions from this week. This 2nd half will be interesting to see how the Rams respond. They are in a fist fight and Rowan County has confidence and thinks they can win.
#27
This is exactly what I expected. Now the Rams have to win by grinding one out

Rowan isn’t a bad team.  Defensively they came out and did exactly what they needed to do and they found some offense to end the first half.

Idk ….I think you may be giving them to much credit. I believe Mike has called a bad game. We’ve been trying to hit the home run ball a little ti much and not establishing the ground game
