Belfry somewhere around 6, but probably closing in on the top 5 around the end of the year. All they have to do is be #1 in 3A out of the 3A mountain schools. I said watching Corbin and Pikeville, I'm damn glad our team is in 3A. We aren't winning 3A this year, and maybe never will, but I don't want to be in 1, 2, 4, or anywhere above!

That's how I'd go after week one. I can't do top 10 not enough knowledge of 6-10 after their first week and who they played. I don't think Bell is in the top 5 though, and

I think this is accurate.

I do not think Belfry can beat Corbin this year, from what I've saw, unless Belfry had a ton of starters out hurt. But I do think Johnson Central would be favored over them, but I personally think that one is 50/50.

I know styles make fights (or ball games), but I would favor Corbin over Pulaski by at least a couple of TD's.

You aint wrong Smoke....Pulaski played us tuff last year. Its just when they got inside the 20 yard line almost every series they had a turnover. So I know Pulaski will be a challenge mainly out in the flats where they would throw the ball almost every play doing a little curl or 10 yard pass play. Then bust a QB run when the play was breaking down and scramble the qb. Corbin played better than I thought they would against Pikeville but Corbin always starts hot out of the gate. Its the 3rd round and games like the potential JC matchup or Boyle or Lexington Catholic that I want to see them get past. This year with RPI making some team not getting eliminated in there own district could make for a different matchup in the 3rd round IMO.

Until Corbin can beat JC head to head then we should never be ranked ahead of them imo… I agree with Bull I think Pulaski would have played Corbin much closer at the end of last season and I look for it to be a good game in a few weeks.

IMO any Mountain poll that doesn't have Johnson Central #1 is invalid.

I've never believed that last year's champ is this year's champ until somebody beats them. Barring an upset, if Johnson Central beats Ironton on the road, they will be undefeated at the end of the regular season. Playing devil's advocate, I can see two or three other teams making the case that Johnson Central's schedule may not be strong enough to put them at the top of the rankings, even if they go undefeated in the regular season.

I think that JC will be the best team in the mountains entering the playoffs but with a new head coach, a new starting quarterback, and a lot of new faces along the line, the pieces have to fall in place and they need to avoid key injuries to make it happen. I don't have a problem with anybody not ranking JC #1, but WYMT ranking them #5 was a bit ridiculous.
#58
Usually I don't believe this either. But when a team such as Johnson Central has dominated a region as long as they have there is surely a feeling of inferiority or doubt that you can beat them. Until that happens in my opinion JC goes into such a game with at least a TD advantage.

Just look at UK football. It took them years to be able to beat Florida although they came close several times. Once they did beat them it got the monkey off their back and it has become common.

I may have North Laurel too high. Would probably move them to 4th and move SW and Pulaski up. It was a great night of football in mountains last night. Several games came down to final few minutes
