Corbin 66 Landrum (SC) 65
#1
What an ending from the Smokies !!!

Final score from Gatlinburg Pittman High School.  Corbin with a win over an outstanding team and well-respected program from Landrum, South Carolina.  Landrum came into the game with a 10-1 record.  Corbin, now 6-2 on the season,  advances to tomorrow's championship game. Hounds' two opponents in this tourney thus far came into these games with a combined record of 23-1.

Somewhat controversial ending (at least in the minds of some of the Landrum faithful).  Some good down home cooking in the Smokies for the Hounds, perhaps?  LMAO #CFITSouth

Lose a heartbreaker…. Up 3 with 17 seconds. They hit a 3, we get a shot off, miss, and we get called for a foul with .6 seconds 93 ft from the goal. They make a ft and game over… proud of our team…. We play for 3rd place tomorrow…. #BounceBack #TheLAND

No doubt it was a foul and the kid knew he did it as soon as the whistle blew.

Congrats to the Hounds.

Sounds like they took 14th region referees with them

Wins like this pay off later in the season and in the post season. Tony gets a lot of credit (well deserved) for being a great in game coach, but what is over looked is a scheduling which prepares his team for the post season. This is why Corbin is a factor year in and year out!!

Good point, Abe.   Tony mentioned after the Saltillo MS game that it was very much like a postseason atmosphere, with every single possession being important.

This would have been a great scheduling strategy for the football team.

There is always a debate about a foul called with just tenths of a second left in the game. What do you think?  Do you take the view that a foul is a foul regardless of when its committed or should an official consider the context of the game? Let's say a foul was committed 90 feet from the goal with a few tenths of a second left in a tie game like this one and the foul had no effect on the outcome. Do you call the foul?

Someone can make an argument for either case. I mean, a basketball game is 32 minutes. It's fair to call any foul committed within that time frame . However, I tend to lean on your side. Consider the situation. A few tenths of a second and a foul that has no effect on the play... I think I probably don't blow my whistle.
