I just know what I've seen on the court in the games I watched Clay play over the past few years. I've seen that the man can outcoach good coaches and he always conducts himself with class and professionalism on the court. Now, is he a jerk who don't give a crap about the fallen program? I have no idea. I can only comment about what I've observed and from what I've observed, I think he is a good coach. I'd like to hear from someone who has no bias for or against.People who don’t like Gray aren’t biased, it’s hard to not like a guy with his ego. That’s why everyone around Clay sports have the same opinion of him, that he’s ruined the program. A couple year back the Manchester Enterprise put out a book of the top 50 sports figures in Clay, and since Gray owns the newspaper he put himself in it, when he hasn’t accomplished anything. Former players will tell you they don’t like him because practices are unorganized and pointless. They get treated like crap and basically bullied. But because he owns the newspaper and the chairman of the school board works for him, he’ll have the job as long as he wants. And he may have made those in-game adjustments because a certain assistant, who should’ve gotten Gray’s job, is no longer on the staff. Those same adjustments won’t be happening anymore. It’s a sad sight
You can't say that with any degree of certainty. Too many factors can interfere with those expectations. There were other teams with as much talent as Clay and other coaches that were better than Marcum. Plus, there is lucky bounces, injuries at pivotal times, and many other factors. With Marcum at the helm it is entirely conceivable that Clay may have fared no better than what it did with Gray. They may have had better results but certainly no guarantee of that.

These comments show your knowledge of sports. A dog or cat could have gotten the results Gray got with that talent. A decent coach would have gotten better.......a good coach would be cutting down nets. No if, ands, or buts about it!

Also name me a better coach in the region when Marcum was in charge at Clay.....better yet name me a coach that had a winning record against him during his 6 years?

One would have thought Gray would have planned better for this year...especially since the rumor around town is he signed a lifetime contract this past summer because he knew it would be a down year and he'd possibly only make it to the district semis instead of losing in the district finals then regional quarter finals.

My knowledge of sports is exceeded only by the passion of your boy crush on Marcum. He was an okay coach but there is no guarantee he would have cut down any nets with that considerably overrated and but still underachieving bunch from the past four or five years. Now, if Marcum had had Richie, Russ F, , Russ C, or Shannon H. then , yeah, he probably would have won a regional or two.
Old school. Man crushes are allowed these days, unfortunately. Lol. Marcum won 2 regions in 6 years. Sounds like u missed out from around 2010 to 2016. Was in finals 5 of 6 years. 6 district championships. And his win percentage against those other 13 th region coaches was unbelievably lopsided. Like 14 and 2 or like 16 and 3. I was gonna look it up but I have better things to do. Clay won most the time, if not 90 percent of time against their regional opponents. Comparing marcum to gray is like comparing a high school coach to a grade school coach. So saying marcum wouldn’t have done better then you’re a nut. Old school, you would want to push out a seasoned established successful proven high school coach for a grade school coach? Lol. No need to discuss this any further. Marcum is retired and from what I know has zero interest in coaching again, so it’s a mood point. Now we need to find new leadership. Gray is a joke. Sexton is a joke. Hoskins is alright. He just sucks up to his boss. Has to. Got to have a job. Just hope the people that care about clay sports programs stand up and show themselves, but probably to late.
Just thought. Marcum won more regional games in one season of coaching than gray has in his entire coaching career. So please old school, go brag on tony. He deserves your praise.

I haven't claimed that Glenn is John Wooden. Just said he has beaten some really good coaches in the last year. That is fact. Also said that there is no guarantee that Marcum would have won more regions than Gray has with the players from the past four years. That's also a fact. All I have done is just stated facts. You all despise Gray. I get it.
