Probably going to go about the same as the first meeting. Letcher will move the ball and put up some points but are just to small upfront to hold JC offense. Im going with eagles here.

JC wins.
I expect this to be like last week. Go for the running clock as soon as possible so JC's varsity can get out of the game. If you know, then you know... but there's some bad blood between JC & LCC.
Score early, score often and give the JV & Frosh some much-needed playoff experience.

How is Letchers basketball program, heard their season is going to start Friday night about halfway through the second quarter.

Seems like Letcher poked a sleeping bear. Haven’t they made the claim that this is “the year” for the last 3 years.

Maybe teams will realize that JC doesn't pass the football and put everyone in the box and take their chances with the pass.

I do think one weakness they have is pass D. I watched the PCC game and they loved the ball on them. But I still like their defense. To me, it doesn’t really seem like a traditional 5-2. It’s almost like a 4-4 but they always walk their rovers up. Unless the O comes out in a 3 or 4 wide set and they take one of the ends/rovers and send them out instead of using the other safety. If Letchwr can exploit that in the pass game, they stand a chance. A small chance. But a chance. However, the D line does a great job of getting to the QB. So ya better make it quick.

Have to respect JC. After watching the last game vs LCC, this game is going to be the exact same. The fullback will carve them up and the line will be DOMINATED again by JC. Something I did notice however is the referees are punishing the JC lineman for basically being to physical. They were driving the LC defensive box backwards 25/30 yards every play. You are completely correct tho, they give you their game plan and dare you to stop it. That’s tough mountain football.

One play, Bingham drove the LB back about 10 yards and knocked him to the ground. (No problem with that). But after he knocked him down, he literally dove intentionally on him while he was on the ground. You can’t do that. You shouldn’t do that. The refs will call that every time they see it.
on another play #77 was blocking a safety or LB, it was a good block, but a split second after the whistle blew he pushed him to the ground. This one was a little closer than the Bingham penalty, but I can see that call going the way it did 6/10 times.
it seems like there was one more that seemed pretty legit. I’m not gonna go back and watch it right now though to see where it was at.
but on the other side. I know one for sure that I can remember shouldn’t have been called. I wanna say it was on Bingham again. He was driving a player back and both of them fell. It wasn’t very close to the actual play, but close enough that there shouldn’t have been a whistle. He was completely playing between the whistles and stopped when it was blown. But overall, I’m MY opinion after watching it, and I think some originally exaggerated just a little bit, but I can see there point on it. I think the refs got a little whistle happy after the first couple of penalties were legit and didn’t want the game getting out of control because of it. Almost erring on the side of caution.

But to follow on the points above, after watching the first game. If LCC had any form of a defense, I think they could give JC a game. LCC’s offense was able to move the ball passing. I’m not going to be arrogant enough to say I know JC’s game plan either. That could have been somewhat by design. Give them the short field passing and don’t give up the home runs. But there were a couple times they burnt the JC defenders.
You know a lot of people commend LCC’s QB (Can’t think of his name), and rightfully so. He’s a great passer with good vision. He needs a little work when he uses his legs and takes off with it. Versus JC he had outside and chose to go up the gut with it. But with that said, Grant Rice, I hope that’s his name is a solid QB. Yea he’s not gonna make the stat book because he don’t throw, and he really don’t have to 80% of the time. But it’s not his stats that impress me. He makes very few mistakes. A couple of delay of game, which could be the coaches fault not his? I know people will say “well how much skill does it take to hand the ball off?”. Quiet a bit. He makes the right reads almost all of the time. And he controls the game. That’s the biggest part. He keeps them in momentum. And once again he don’t make many mistakes. From a HS standpoint, that’s all you can ask. Go out there, run the offense, ans don’t screw up. And he has perfected that. Couple that with he has some wheels.
I don’t know, just thought I’d throw my two cents worth in. You see all these QBs talked about because they have such and such yards passing or are duel threat. But I’d about guarantee you they’ve made way more mistakes than rice in doing so. Hats off to the young man. He’s perfect for what they need him to do.
