Pikeville is the front runner no question on that but Hazard showed last year that on any given night anyone can get beat. Raceland is a very good team and can’t be overlooked

KCD, Sayre, and NCC are all questionable for me. To me KCD is too high, they got throttled in the finals last year and havent really played anyone to merit them having the #2 spot. Sayre is in the same boat in terms of having any sort of signature win. NCC on the opposite wnd of the spectrum at 1-2 have played bigger and better schools, so we dont know how good or bad they may be. Imo, Williamsburg. Raceland, and Paintsville(their record is reflective of playing 2 if the top 3 or 4 teams in the first 2 classes). Are 2-4 in any order. Jmo.

Just don’t like that Paintsville could have played two teams that are terrible and we would be #2. However, since we played Pikeville and Beechwood we are #9. It is just laziness by the voters who only see 0-2 and conclude Paintsville is a bad 1A team.

Thats my biggest issue is the strength of schedule is seemingly being tossed out. That being said, Paintsville was in no way competitive with Beechwood and from what I can gather outside of some chunk plays from Phelps wasnt able to move the ball that well or stop Pikeville from moving the ball in week 1. I would like to believe that if Paintsville had been competitive in those games, the rankings would look different for them. But the Sayre ranking is what is suprising to me. 3-0 yes they are. But they havent exactly steam rolled anyone and their SOS is far and away below Paintsvilles. Ans this is coming from a Raceland guy lol.

To be fair, everyone ranked ahead of them outside of Pikeville and MAYBE Raceland would have gotten those same results. I doubt any of those teams could even play with Pikeville for a 1 quarter. At the end of the day, who cares lol

I feel like theres Pikeville and then everyone else right now. Its similar to most years though. Usually in 1A there is a clear #1. Then often times 2-5 are a toss up as is the 6-10. This season is a crap shoot. Possibly even more so than last year though. Simply bc one quarantined player in 1A could change everything. And in terms w the RPI if a team has to cancel due to a shutdown, it goes down as a forfeit. So who knows what could happen.

I think there’s a little more on the table this year for Pikeville. That loss last year will be a motivator for one and those seniors are wanting to go out in style. I really liked what I saw out of them in the 7x7 in EKU. Looked like a very good team. Passed the eye test for me. By the sounds of it, they are on there way.

I do mas well Spud. BL has a great QB this season and one of the best in the mountains. This BL team imo is the best they've had in a long while.

Pikeville could lose to Wheelersburg and still be a big favorite in Class A. I don't think they lose though...but have been wrong before.

Wasn’t Hazard a young team last year? I really don’t know their roster because I haven’t seen a Hazard team in years…which I think needs to be fixed! The Rams and Bulldogs should look at scheduling something. If Hazard was young last year and beat Pikeville then why doesn’t people talk more about them?
