6A McCraken county travels to mayfield with a winless record to face the undefeated cardinals. I think McCraken goes home without their first win.

McCracken Co is a sinking ship but many saw this coming. The program's feeder system is non existant and the current coach hasn't helped the situation.

Mayfield will most certainly be the favorite in this game, but McCracken will be there to play. Mayfield has a 100% chance to go undefeated in the regular season. I'd say 50-50 on another State Championship. McCracken is a bigger spring sports school, along with Soccer, Volleyball, wrestling and Basketball in the fall and winter. Football will rebound from time to time when they have 3-4 dominate players. It's not the end of the world the sun will come up every morning. Band, cheer, dance, music, theater, academics last time I checked were all alive and well.

Hunter Bradley has left school and football at this point supposedly, hate it for the team and him.

I feel like Mayfield should dominate from start to finish. However, the team needs to stay focused and not believe the hype. We have had some very talented teams for the past few years that completely underachieved. This team needs to stay grounded and remember that. I would love to see MHS blast the he** out of the usually cocky bunch over there.

50-50 on state is just a little bit of a stretch.

What's wrong with being cocky, Mayfield is King of the Hype and they usually always back it up with wins. McCracken County has beaten Mayfield a few times, probably not this year but who knows stranger things have happened.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being cocky, and McCraken in the past definitely has been, so has Mayfield but Mayfield is no way ( king of the hype.) I can name you several across central and eastern ky that are far more cocky, but I won’t cause I don’t want to stir a pot. Having said that, I’ve never seen a winning team, especially one with a history of backing it up that’s not cocky, and confident they were going to win when they took the field. Teams that are consistently relevant are going to have some cockiness, and those teams are gonna have haters cause teams ( mostly the fans) that don’t have that history want it, badly, and they love it when the mighty fall. When David slays Goliath syndrome.

McCracken Co is 4-4 all-time against Mayfield with all four wins something to celebrate. Yes, the players, coaches, and fans celebrate when they beat Mayfield in football because it is an accomplishment, no matter the classification. The people in McCracken Co have a huge respect for Mayfield football and a majority actually pull for them outside the game with the Mustangs. To call them cocky is preposterous from my perspective.

2014 was the first. The school was in its second year and alot of those ex-Lone Oak players never got a chance to play Mayfield. They and Coach Haskins felt they could've competed several years from 2007-2012.
2015 they ended Mayfield's long home winning streak.
2019 was a huge upset (many had the Mustangs as 3 TD underdogs at War Memorial).
2020 opening week due to Covid

I can't recall any serious trash talking at the game, in the community, or on the message boards in regards to these games.

Anyway, Mayfield will go to 5-4 in the series and should do so in dominating fashion.
