West Carter 25 Russell 21
#1
Final. West scored late in the game trailed 21-19 went for 2 to tie and failed. Went for onside kick and recovered. West then completed a hail mary at the buzzer for a touchdown and the win. Congrats to the Comets!

Is this West Carter's first win over Russell?

West Carter played a great game. Russell didn't move the ball as well as they should have, but West Carter had a lot to do with that. Russell Choked away a lead. That is 2020 for you.

West Carter has a fairly decent team.....but this is a bad loss for Russell.  Tough way to lose...and also gonna take a hit in RPI

Congrats to West, Devils should have never lost this game plenty of mistakes made by everyone. The fumble recovery that was reversed and the strip and would be score of cline was 2 of the worst calls I’ve ever seen.

RPI only matter if you win your district.

Never been more proud to be a comet!

Shocked, never thought Russell would lose this game. Huge win for West and congrats.

Called this one. Knew it would be close but West Carter would have just enough to beat Russell. Sounded like a dandy.

I’m not sure why most people expected the comets to get hammered. 8 point game between these two last season. West Carter is better than last year and Russell isn’t as good.

No disrespect intended at all but traditionally Russell has hammered West Carter and your Comets didn’t get due credit for being a really good team this year.  I would have loved to seen them play Raceland this year.

West has a good team but they had one first down in the first half and ran only 3 plays in the 1st quarter. They was dominated that half on everything except the one thing that mattered the scoreboard as it was tied 7-7,cline’s pick 6 gave them life. Bottom line if your up 21-13 with a 1:30 left you should never lose in regulation. Devils made lots of mistakes but they are fixable

Watching this game you could see the Comets had penalties that hurt them offensively during the first half.

Russell in the first half only had success on one drive as well so to say they dominated that is ridiculous

Unless you have some Red Devil blinders on it was obvious that the Comets were the more complete team- from offense/defense/special teams/coaching.

Comets are probably the 2nd best team in The 16th region area behind the Tomcats. Give them their credit.

Excited to see how the Devils bounce back vs Raceland.

The comets didn’t play anywhere near perfect last night either. Devils made mistakes but the comets also made a lot of big plays.

Did Russell get caught looking ahead to Raceland?

If that’s the excuse you would like to use. I think they were just simply out played and out coached.

Figured with Russell getting destroyed by Ashland, Russell getting healthy, and having a few extra weeks to prepare would give them a huge edge. Glad I was wrong.

Incredible way to get your first ever win against an opponent. Those involved will talk about this game for days to come. Congrats to the Comets!!

No excuses here. West played a great game and Russell was out coached. I was just asking the question because West is no longer in Russell's district so the game might not had meant as much to the Russell kids. Just a question since Russell and Raceland is a rivalry game. Like I said no excuses here because it had to happen sooner or later. Russell had their chances and the coaches made some bad calls.
