Letcher County Central @ Johnson Central 10/23

Thoughts?

I read a post where a brave fan from Letcher Central said they would play Johnson Central closer than any team that JC has played all year. So I looked for game film to get a glimpse of Letcher Central. I really like there offense.

Harlan is down, but looked to make a statement by holding Johnson Central offense to its season low so far. After watching Johnson Centrals games online, I think they win out but if any two teams on there schedule give them a closer game than Harlan, it will be Letcher or Belfry. I still think that Johnson Central will roll in this game too.

I think LCC will keep this game interesting. Whether or not they win I believe at the present time the game may be to big for LCC right now given that JC has been there done that won state championships, been up big, been in tight games etc. Even with the loss LCC still wins if they can keep it within 3 scores or less. LCC is a very solid football team and from what I’ve heard are still young and ahead of schedule.

I think JC has the athletes to keep the LCC Qb contained. If he can't get going , I don't see LCC`S offense scoring a lot of points.

This is the game I've been waiting for I would love to see an upset by the cougars. I think LCC has the elusiveness to run with the eagles but the question is will JC play shutdown D and contain. I believe LCC will play close through 2 quarters, but at the end of the night Johnson will be just too much to overcome. As I've said before, I've seen some crazy things happen man. Will be interesting. On paper JC destroys them but these cougars are a lot different this year. Good luck to both teams and I pray for an injury free game.

LCC size really concerns me in this one. LCC was way smaller than Harlan co and physically beat them up Especially on the defensive side of the ball.Johnson Central looked even bigger than Harlan with way better athletes so this may be a bad matchup. LCC defense has been great this year only giving up 36 points and some of that was on the 2nd string. Johnson Central really didn’t play good last week so I wouldn’t be surprised if they come out fired up for this one which could be a big problem for the cougars. Letcher will keep it reasonably close for a couple of quarters but Johnson Central will be just too much.

Letchers got some speed that I think will help them. They can't out match JC straight up in a shootout so letcher has to figure out a way to stay competitive. JC has too many athletes. But if I was on the sidelines with letcher I'd focus on playing conservative and keeping the ball out of their hands by controlling the clock but that's a tall task given how good JC defense is. If LCC can move the chains with 0 turnovers and tire that Johnson defense down really who knows. I just can't see LCC defense being able to stop JC on offense. I think that will be their main issue. JC got some straight up studs

I really think this will be one of the biggest games in the state Friday night. If Adams shows up and plays like he has been playing then this will be a much closer game than everyone thinks.

Adams, I like that kid. He's fast, can wiggle through a defense. Kinda reminds me of a younger Jordan Amis from Perry years ago. Amis was a lot quicker but this kid is getting there

Will this game be streamed?

Being off two weeks will not help the Cougars, the Eagles will be ready for Adams. Cougars must get some offense for others through the passing game. Can LCC stop them on defense for 4 quarters?

LCC defense is very tough and will surprise a lot of people.
Adams legs will continue to keep himself out of trouble.
LCC with the upset of the year.

I'm like you LCC needs to play some good D if they are going to have a chance. Being off two weeks is what it is but I betcha they will be conditioned.
If Letcher don't get intimidated by JCs size and physicality, JCs got some big strong physical boys that will straight up hit you in the mouth.
I'm not saying LCC will win this game but for now I believe Letcher is JCs huckleberry.
Man I'm excited!

Gotta play keep away ball for letcher

I don't see JC giving up 21 points like several have speculated. 35-7 is what I'm predicting.

I get what your saying about wiggle out of tackles but Adams is like 5 inches taller amd 50lbs heavier than Amos. Adams does a great job of eluding tacklers but his size makes him really hard to tackle. I can’t tell you the times this year he has just run through tacklers. He is really hard to take to the ground.

True. Thats also what makes him a dangerous guy with the ball in his hands JC plays pretty physical and they hit hard too. but I still think they may have to gang tackle this guy & much respect to Johnsons defense but if they don't contain him LCC is gonna score some points, its going to happen.
Johnsons good and they will key in on him all game I'm sure but if Adams gets loose its 6 to the house IDC who you are. & if letcher can keep JCS offense off the field and run the clock for 4 quarters it's a game.
Its hard to go against JC because of how good they really are but I hope Letcher wins I really do.

I’m glad to hear that Letcher County will be more competitive then the other district games this year. JC needs good competition to prepare for the playoffs. If Letcher can start playing at a level similar to Ashland that will really help the Golden Eagles.

It sounds like this Carson Adams is going to be a good test for the JC defense. The difference to me is that JC has played several good QBs the last couple of years so they won’t be shocked to see a good QB. On the other hand this will be by far the best defense Adams has to face this year. Does he get rattled by the size and speed Jc has?

As I said in a previous post as long as LCC is not intimadated. Which I don't think they will be but who knows what will happen. Adams will hit back. Harlan held JC to a season low and Letcher is a better offensive and defensive team then the black bears IMO Harlan more physical but like I said Cougars are gonna score no doubt.
It's if they can keep that powerful offence of Johnson off the field that will be the difference maker. Special teams will be a major factor in this game

Don’t be surprised if this is a blow out. They probably feel like they need to prove a point after last weeks “close” game against Harlan.

JC by 24. To many athletes for LCC to match up
#23
I think the key for Letcher being able to put up some points will be how much time Adams has to throw. The most underrated thing about LCC is they have some really good fast receivers. I worry that JC pass rush will be all over him and it doesn’t matter how good a QB you have if he is getting killed every time he sets to throw. Oline will have to bring against this JC team if LCC wants to keep this respectable.

I’ve seen tape on the Adams kid and he is a freakishly good athlete. However your not gonna stop a team like JC with one kid and neither is he gonna keep you in this game by himself. LC needs about 10 more kids like Adams to make this competitive, best of luck to LC though hope it’s an exciting injury free game.

Letcher Co. Central fans & players, we're glad you guys are having a good year.  Outside of Ashland having a couple of good teams, we've had terrible district opponents for over a decade.  Call it what you will (bragging or stating facts), but JC's program is on another level though..... the last five years prove that.  We will probably be seeing you guys in district football play for awhile after the current alignment ends.  Both teams need each other to be good to prepare for the playoffs.  Last season, JC only had a couple games that weren't over by halftime (Capital, WV., Wayne Co. & Madisonville-NH) and had only one game go to the last play, which was in the state finals vs. Boyle Co. JC's very experienced & talented senior class was the difference in that game.  This year, JC' fully expects to win our 3rd state title, led by the senior class, I find it hard to seeing any team getting over-looked or having a let-up on the field.

LCC has improved, but they are not on the level to be competitive with Johnson Central. I hope I am wrong, but I don't see LCC being able to match up physically with the Golden Eagles. Johnson Central wins 45-14.

Eagles keep rolling

I said it in another post but, LCC has a solid QB. But they don’t have the supporting cast to keep up with JC. From what I’ve watched defensively (not a lot), I just don’t think they have it up front to even slow JC down. Physicality might be an issue as well. It’s hard to judge looking at just tape. I know JC has it, LCC I have no idea??? This might go down as the Harlan game did. 42-7
#29
I think most LCC fans understand the disparity in the programs. Been awhile for LCC to talk in positive terms.
#30
Trust me any reasonable LCC fan isn’t talking about winning this game. Most are just hoping for a reasonable competitive game with no running clock. From what I have seen LCC with that defense would have a shot of winning against any other team in the mountains right now and that’s a huge turnaround for this team. LCC should be pretty good for the next 3 or 4 years.
