2020 Class 1a Predictions
Sincere question if KHSAA and THSAA both do not have football, does all those boys go and play in West Virginia? I guess it is more of a proximity question.
jetpilot Wrote:Pikeville will put a bunch of points on the board without Adkins. Would love to see him in the backfield though. Very exciting player.

I’m not looking forward to playing Pikeville. Kid should have came to Paintsville to balance things out somewhat 😂

Also applies to Johnson Central, Belfry, and Paintsville. Could you imagine that West Virginia team? If that is even possible fue to travel. Again just hoping these kids get a chance anywhere and right now I would bet on W.V.

I hope I we get to play

THSAA? do you mean the TSSAA? no because TN plays football in district only where you live and public and private schools play in different divisions

Yes, thanks for that.
If we get to see a 2020 season, I predict a Pikeville repeat
Could see a couple losses from the Panthers this year, but come playoff time they will have all the pistons firing. I just don’t think teams in 1A are gonna be able to beat them down the stretch.
I think it’s Pikeville’s to lose granted I watched no tape on Kentucky Country Day last year to see what they are returning this year. But something interesting to keep an eye on is the Atkins kid from Virginia. He’s teased coming to Pikeville and with Virginia announcing they are moving football to February and him already being a D1 recruit with multiple big school offers. I could see him wanting to go ahead and move to Pikeville with KhSAA announcing today that the plan is to continue fall sports in the fall. So that he can finish his senior season and then potentially enroll early into college like a lot of athletes do now a days. It seems like a legit possibility in my opinion.

Imho, Panther fans will see another great season once again, but in comparison to last season it will be more of a challenging one. Gonna have the horses needed to win another championship, but those horses will be young and will need to grow in experience. There will be much talent, no doubt, but again, they will be young and the experience will come. As far as w/o speed, i think there's four that practice that position with sub 4-5 forty speed. It's difficult for any school to replace three D-1 players, much less a single A school, but these four just may be able to "catch lightning in a bottle" with the speed they have. The RB positions will be better than what's expected at this point, jmo. That's all i can say about those positions at this time, but just keep an eye on that one. By the time playoffs come around, this team will be ready for Kroger field.

Yep. I think we'll see Trent Atkins taking hand offs from Isaac McNamee this fall, and this young man is phenomenal !! If I'm not mistaken, he put up 28 against the Panthers at Hambley.

Big question mark will be how healthy will that knee be for Carson Wright? Because he's the next big name in mountain football and even state wide in my opinion.

But my biggest question mark will be who replaces Jon Collum's role? The throw you work hat on and just do whatever needs to be done to win ball games like he did so many times last year.

What offers does the kid have? I know they said today that they weren't going to let kids come into our state and double dip. Didn't know if that would also affect his decision.

Lol ! That's a great question mark Spud6. How do you replace a power player like Jon Collum? I know of two, maybe three that could possibly replace him, but that would be the challenge of the decade.

Multiple D1 P5...I believe Penn State, Tennessee and many others. This kid has a chance to be the all-time leading rusher in VA if they have a season. But as of now they are shooting for a spring football season and he probably would take the sure thing in the fall. Just IMO I have no inside info...

Love how the kid played on both sides of the ball. Was a great player for Pikeville, really special. But Pikeville always has more great players waiting for their chance...

A name that pops into my head is Nate Collins. He made a lot of big plays last season and was overshadowed by Jon on defense but Nate made a lot of big plays against Belfry if you remember. I could definitely see him being a huge breakthrough player this season on the defensive side of the ball.

Josh Taylor is another one. Excellent player.

I agree jet. He came on strong all last season. I've heard he's gotten bigger and stronger in the off season.

He will be a beast then. These boys seem to have a great work ethic, passed down from coaching staff and players above them.
Pikeville must be working very hard to get the kid from Virginia. Take a look at the kid's twitter account and see how many Pikeville faithful follow the kid...players, coaches, moms and dads. Pikeville always has the right $ answers when it comes to recruiting. Kudos to you guys.

Why wouldn’t they support him and want him to come there and play his senior year? The kids a beast. And Va isn’t having football in the fall. I read an article earlier that said he publicly stated he was probably going to transfer to either Dobyns-Bennett in Kingsport or Pikeville.

Just like the Tigers working magoffin for the lovely kid, Lawrence for the Preece kid last year and every kid they can get to listen across the river.

They took it down shortly after it was posted I’m pretty sure.

GTFO coming from a Paintsville fan. :biglmao:

Those are some pretty nasty accusations. Got any proof?
If he is choosing between Pikeville and DB, it's a no-brainer lol...Pikeville would have spanked them last year and no comparison with academics. Just sayin'.
Best of luck to the kid. If VA didn't have an idiot governor he could stay put and set the all time VA rushing record...

Don't think anyone from Pikeville has said a word on his twitter feed:

How in the world can a Paintsville fan complain about recruiting? Over 75 percent of your roster comes from other school systems. You pretty much destroyed Prestonsburg and you have the nerve to get on here and cry about Pikeville. It’s hilarious how you thought you actually had a shot in Class A after that pathetic showing in the finals last year. You all should be used to playing second fiddle by now. You’re both little brother in Class A and in your own county. I still remember how a couple of your boosters aggravated Drew Obryan to no end the summer going into his senior season to try and get him to enroll at Paintsville. People who live on glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
