Hoot I think what 64 is saying(I could be wrong) is that if the President doesn't were a mask, others think it's ok not to wear one. Even though a head scientist that has been doing it for 30 years says so, to help slow spread down. Imo what people don't really understand is he doesn't have to wear one because no one can get close to him, and I yet to see or understand what being a Democrate or Repblican has to do with this thing, those are just words if you want to be honest they don't mean squat, the virus is real and doesn't care what you are. I think if we have football the kids would be ok even if they test positive, my issue would be the coaches and the locker room, you really couldn't have your starters next to each other because most teams can't afford to lose one starter let alone two for 14 days, just my two cents for today. I work for the military, and Donald Trump is our Commander in Chief. I telework three days a week. On the two days a week when I work on base, I am required to wear a mask whenever I might come within 6 feet of another person. Before inserting my access card to open the door of the building, I am required to sanitize my hands. I sanitize my hands a second time after I enter my department's office and before I sit down at my desk.

I have no issue with Trump not wearing a mask when he is speaking but I do wish that he would wear one when he is close to his security team and staff. My point is that Donald Trump has imposed common sense safeguards against the spread of COVID-19 for the federal agencies for which he is responsible. State governments should do the same for agencies, schools, and other organizations that fall under their jurisdiction and they should take responsibility for their own decisions.

It is idiotic to blame Trump for failures of state and local policies.

It is strict loyalty to a single party that has resulted in the sorry state of our inner cities. It is ridiculous for states to ban church services while they stand by and watch buildings go up in flames as looters cart off big screen TVs and Rolex watches. At least the looters, rioters, and other criminals violating curfews and rules against large public gatherings are generally complying with the states' mandates to wear masks.

COVID-19 is not registered with either party. If you are determined to blame somebody for the possibility that Kentucky high school football will be canceled, then blame those who will be making that decision. Better yet, blame the pandemic and appreciate the fact that somebody has to make the tough decision on the fate of the high school football season.

Has Ohio made a decision yet? I know Tennessee shut down till their governor removes order or late September. If Ohio and Tennessee both stop. It will be hard to justify for Kentucky to have it. Might be wrong.

I do think Kentucky governor needs some credit, the only southern state to meet all criteria for reopening. That says alot about its people. Good job guys and stay safe

I was under the impression that the shield was barred from HS competition several years ago due to safety reasons. Very difficult to play with one in rainy, humid or muddy conditions.

Julian Tackett had some type of meeting with Ky. Education Commission this morning.... here is the story from Kentucky Sports Radio.


The plan is still to play high school sports in the fall… at least for now.

KHSAA commissioner Julian Tackett reassured the Interim Joint Committee on Education on Tuesday, saying, “We are looking at having fall sports.” However, Commissioner Tackett did not offer much else as to how those fall sports may look. For those details, we continue to wait.

The wait will continue until at least Friday when Tackett and his colleagues within the Kentucky High School Athletic Association hold a board meeting to kick around their options for holding fall sports in a safe manner while maintaining as much normalcy as possible. Tackett would not pull back the curtain to reveal the specifics of what’s on the table in the upcoming meeting, but did say there is some optimism in the building as the KHSAA monitors the processes in Indiana and Ohio. But when they look to the south, “We get a little pessimism when we see what’s going on in Tennessee,” he said.

Tackett also noted things will change as the data around the virus changes.

In summary, there is nothing new, but the KHSAA is still pushing forward with optimism for fall sports in Kentucky in some form.


If you've ever been around Big JT, he is black belt on Verbal Judo.... wasn't really expecting much from this meeting, but at least we have something said by the KHSAA Commissioner. Friday's meeting with the KHSAA B.O.C. should reveal some more details.

The data is becoming more and more overwhelming that young people don't get the virus as easily as adults and that when they do get it they are far less contagious. And if they do get it, they don't get sick.

The virus is real. We need to be smart. We need to protect the vulnerable, and GASP, yes, we need to wear a mask.

But I am also certain that kids need to be in school and that kids need to be able to play sports.

Why should a positive test "shut things down"?

If nobody else has symptoms and that player didn't come into close contact with other players... Why "shut it down"?

It's a good thing when the testing works. That kid can now self isolate and not spread the virus.

The expectation that there can be nobody with the virus is absurd.

If grandparents needed to be protected, they could be in trouble if the student just attends school or spends time with friends. I don't know if sports adds that much to the danger. It would probably be smart to social distance all the time from a normal teenager with friends etc....

Here is my issue with everyone talking about sports or schools. My business relies on people to walk through the doors. However we will switch gears for a quick second...I have to make all things here ergonomic , but I know all to well when I go to my employees house for get together a, they have a laptop on a table or even sit there in a couch with it. Lighting is terrible but once they walk into work I am required to purchase expensive equipment to accommodate. Same thing here , do we see where the public goes ...going to work

I think high school teams that are practicing right now are doing so (for the most part) in clusters of kids, easier to keep things sanitized and if someone does test positive, then there is a smaller group to be worried about rather than the whole team.

So with Hazard starting with one and then up to 7. They shut down. My question is what happens if this is during the season. Obviously Hazard would have to forfeit. But lets say theyplay Pineville, Pikeville has 7 kids that end up with it and from contact tracing comes from Hazard. Playoffs happen, Pikeville has to forfeit because of the 14 day ban. Hazard ends up with the bye and is able to continue in playoffs.

Hazard then comes back plays Williamsburg. Williamsburg ends up having it and they have to forfeit again 14 day rule.

How should this be handled? The virus will spread. Schools will shut down. How do we handle it if sports are allowed?

People on here talking about Teachers work being easier are so uneducated. They should be getting paid extra. Not only are they having to prepare normally for the school year they are also having to to create online courses with all material and be able to manage both.
