Best Coordinators
#1
Who are the best Coordinators in your area?
#2
I would of said Mcdonald from Male, but see he is now a head coach.
#3
Mcloud at South Warren is the best coordinator in my area that's not a head coach too.
#4
Just from Louisville area

St X
Trinity
Male
Central
Desales
Cal

Any of these teams have Coordinators being looked at?
#5
In EKy, list starts with OC Brad Allen and DC Paul Sullivan at Pikeville in my opinion.

For sure. Not a better coaching staff anywhere than Pikeville top to bottom.

Trinity's DC is Jay Cobb formerly Head Coach at Knott Co. Central, Somerset, Campbellsville, and I probably missed one in there somewhere. Pretty sure he's retired as a teacher in the public school system so I doubt he ever takes an HC job again unless it's at a private or out of state.

Guess there just may not be good Coordinators out there.

You here about them a bit more in Tennessee and Ohio, and here you rarely hear about them so I thought local guys would be sounding off.

Guess since CJ doesn’t care, nobody does

OC Oakley Watkins (LCA)
#10
Maybe someone can fill in the names, but these position groups always impress me with scheme and how soundly coached they are:

Raceland Defense, specifically their DB's
Johnson Central Defense, specifically DL and LB
Johnson Central OLine
LCA Offense
DeSales DLine
South Warren Defense
Bowling Green Offense
CovCath Defense, specifically LB

Does anyone have names of OC/DC of these teams and their credentials?

I think may have been a thought that nobody knows Coordinators around this area.

I'm kinda surprised that no one has mentioned Coach Anthony Tackett (offensive line coach at Belfry) yet. The guy is a magician when it comes to transforming big, uncoordinated young men into some of the best offensive linemen in Eastern Kentucky since he's been doing the job. His resume speaks for itself not to mention the young men he's sent to the next level. The guy is pure class and one of the best coaches in the area, in my opinion.
#14
Don't know his name. but Somerset has a great Def, Cord. Their Def is always in the top of 2A

Great post.

There are good coaching staffs all over. In large part, if you're a fan of a certain team...then IMO, most are gonna be partial....especially if that team or program has been successful. With that being said, IMO the list starts with these three:

1. Belfry. Tackett, Cassell and Varney are at the very top in terms of results, professionalism and overall development.
2. Johnson Central
3. Pikeviille

What about this side of 65

Central &Desales? Who has the info on these teams and their coordinators?

Ty Scroggins at DeSales has to be at the very top of that list. Although I didn't like his reaction after the playoff game against Belfry last year, it doesn't take away from the fact that he's a great Coordinator AND Head Coach.

After his son graduates from DeSales, I believe it won't be long after that he's the "Head Man" again somewhere. That's just my opinion though. But no doubt Coach Scroggins is one of the best Coordinators/Head Coaches in the State.

Jared Swearingen, and he is a great DC. Doubt he leaves Somerset. If he was interested in leaving then he would've done so already IMO. Plenty of HC jobs have come open in the area over the years that he could've gotten. I don't know how many years Coach Lucas has left but I would say Swearingen would be the top choice for his replacement.

I had visited and watched a few of Coach Scroggins games and man did they get things going in a hurry !

Seems like the DC would be getting looks. They have been solid for a while

How good are the coordinators at Whitley County? Smile

Boys gotta give some love to Steve Johnson. He’s taken the Pikeville passing game from decent to unreal. A magician with scheming along with Brad. Class act as well.
#26
Coach Matney has a fantastic group of assistant coaches at Johnson Central. Justin Arms, Jesse Peck and Tony Burchett are awesome assistants.

Was looking on their website, how did Central get a HC and. DC at the same time from out of state? Was there nobody else locally that wanted the job?
#28
I’m not sure who calls it at Clay County but our program has really started to improve again recently. A lot of solid programs and coaches in this area.
#29
I need to recruit some of these assistants.
