Per WHAS website, youngest persons to die of Covid in KY were in the 30-39 age group, an there were only 2 of those. So 0% death rate for HS and college students (and hardly any cases period). If they cancel school and sports over that, they need to start canceling for flu as well.

Copied this from another site. This is my position also.
Did anyone hear Lincoln Riley's comments about his team going back to practice? I believe it is the SEC and maybe others that are looking at bringing kids back to campus June 1. Riley blasted that as being way too soon. His position is you bring the kids back at the last day possible to get started on time for the fall season. Put safety first and let as much as possible happen to reduce new cases, possible treatments get developed, etc.
In this thread, that take equals keep the dead period going as long as you can while keeping the scheduled season start in place.

I heard through that will be no out of state games allowed during the season. Anyone else hear that information?

The governor just said "getting the kids back to school" was one of his top goals.

I seen where Tennessee high school football is back and going to start whenever itâs time to start is now I know that donât mean anything for Kentucky but one never knows what is going to be happening in a couple of months from now.

I've got a nephew in big orange country, and it's a long long way from being back to anything that even remotely looks like "NORMAL", they're letting players start to work out in small groups under the direction of coaches, I don't believe they will even be allowed to use locker rooms or weight rooms......But it is a start...
Correction they can use weight rooms according to this article.....

That's because Tn. State Gov. has taken a completely different approach to opening the State back up than Andy's idea of staying locked down. His attitude is very similar to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer's idea of continuous lockdown.

Monitor them daily, checking temps isn't hard, then let them do some type of practice. Let these kids plan to play something, even if it's non contact flag, allowing big boys "lineman" to touch the ball every other series, while the bigs are forced to play D during same series..HAHA....."They'd love it". Just give them a plan and dates, allow folks to start making plans for whatever type of season we're hoping to have. A positive plan for the future would be a huge morale booster for the kids and families, I'm afraid all this free time may instill bad habits in our athletes.

It is a shame that a medical issue has been made a political issue. I don't think we need to be protected from ourselves. Look at the data. Quarantine the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Let people choose their risk tolerance. It's a shame these HS kids have essentially zero impact to this, but we lock them up inside and rob them of their youth. If you don't think this is political, think about this. If Masks work, have everyone wear them and let's go. If they don't work, why are being told to wear them? Also, I can go into Home Depot and be fine, but not Dick's SPorting goods?

The TSSAA is allowing each individual school board chose their direction. From what I understand is that the TSSAA is saying that the dead period calendar and normal regulations are in place and suggestions on safety. The actual protocols for Coronavirus is to be determined by each local school board. So a lot of Tennessee schools have closed the doors early since kids out, which has allowed the opportunity to practice.

Nobody is telling all the rioters they have to stay home, or social distance. Nobody shaming the rioters for spreading disease. But we can't go to work, church or a football game?:biglmao:

If people can have protests/marches in the largest cities in the country.... there is NO reason why sports can't be played.

I'm predicting if cases don't explode after the riots then the season will kick off on Friday September 11th 2020. if cases rise or stay consistent where they are now, there will be no football in 2020.
Bottom line is sports being played at the high school level and below is way way down on the powers priority scale.

If true, further proof the powers are turds.

Disagree the 2 are remotely different. The people that are marching/protesting(not looting), are doing this on their own accord and yes I think it needs to be a change. High School athletes are different, the coaches and the school are liable if something happens.

I agree that doing something of your own accord and being part of an organized high school athletic competition are different things.
However, that does not negate the fact that people are not social distancing at these protests. All we've heard and seen since mid-March from commercials, politicians & just about everybody else on the planet is "social distance". Fast-forward to when these protests started a few days ago and it seems like the phrase "social distance" has been expunged.

Oh I understand what you are saying, but they are still being advised to "social distance" and the numbers are climbing back up. It's just the issue that they are protesting for, runs deep and been going on for years, so they do not even have "social distancing" on there mind or even care. I'm ready for some football though!!! Man I hope there is a season

So here is the very latest I've heard. Again....this is not my opinion....just passing on info I've been privy to. Don't shoot the messenger.
There is positive momentum toward having a season. However....there are still a lot of "what ifs" too be worked out. Cancellation measures are also being contemplated if a spike occurs or if team/teams have active cases. Discussions pertaining too a team needing to shut down due to active cases. I think we can all see that happening. I'm also hearing that an early to mid September start date is favored at this point. Potentially a couple of "dry run" scrimmages could be held to not only provide teams with additional prep time...but also hammer out all the preventative measures that will be needed. Also hearing that it could be a "district only" amended schedule....with limited travel. I still have not heard whether fans will be allowed in stadiums. I don't expect there to be Freshman or JV games.....but I've not heard a lot of discussion regarding this issue. Middle School Football.....too my knowledge hasn't even been discussed. At least not among my contacts.
I think Fauci's statement today that if we don't see a spike in cases with all the protests....that schools may very well be able to reopen in the fall is a positive sign that we will at least have some form of high school sports. What that may look like is still up for discussion.

There will be a season. Might be limited capacity.
06-08-2020, 06:21 AM
How will travel be handled? With the very long distances some teams travel for district games and having to limit amount of kids to half capacity on buses or less it will cost a fortune to travel to district games. That will bankrupt many schools travel for the season.

I'm hearing the same and to add when kids get back together they are going to limit groups to 10 with 1 coach per group. So groups of 10 distanced apart from one another.
Going to be interesting as to how schools without an excess of space will be able to accomadate the new guidelines! TIME WILL TELL
