Bingham is a dang good football player no doubt. But Burton is the top lineman in the state in '21 and it's not even close. I'm not being disrespectful to any of the other kids, it's just that Jager Burton is one of those special players that you don't see very often. He's a 4-Star according to rivals (more than likely end up a 5-Star), he's ranked #1 in the state, #149 nationally, and has just about every Power Five offer you can think of. I'm hearing Ohio State is where he's leaning. But he has offers from Clemson, Alabama, Oregan, Oklahoma, UK, Michigan State, Penn State, etc. Just a special talent.

But if I'm not mistaken, Bingham is class of 2022. And if he is, there's a good possibility he'll be the Jager Burton of that class, IMO.

There's a kid on this list that has kinda flown under the radar so far in his high school football career. I'm telling you right now, and you heard it here first, don't be surprised when this kids name starts showing up everywhere come next fall. Showing up on high school football forums and on recruiting radars all over. That kid is John Mudd from Waggoner. This kid has D-1 size already and his football fundamentals, football intelligence, and football speed has caught up with his massive size. Keep a close eye on Big John Mudd come football season.

After talking to those college coaches and recruiters, how did you determine Long should be over:

*Nalley (offers from Arkansas State, EKU, Murray State, SEMO, Southern Illinois)

*Millay (offers from EKU, Indiana State, Murray State, SEMO, William & Mary)

Bingham is big and fast. At 6’ 5” and 300 pounds, Not a player on that list is as athletic and can run like him. This kid is still growing!

Jager Burton has a highlight video on YouTube at Rivals camp and he is going up against elite talent as a junior. The only video I could find of Bingham is Johnson Centrals game highlights of a few games this year but it doesn’t showcase Binghams individual talent. I think Burton also plays both sides of the ball. I’m happy for all these kids that at the very least get recognized on a list that a guy felt compelled to do. I would like to hear the numbers these kids are doing on there weights and there run times for comparison sakes from top to bottom of the list.

His NSCA page says he does NOT project as a DI player.

I try never to put a player down. They are only kids. Long is a great high school center, in my opinion, the best. Does he project as D1? Probably not due to his height, however he is better at the high school level than a lot of kids that will play D1. I have watched a lot of his film against top competitors and seen him at combines. He is legit. I don’t hold over him who his dad is or how he is promoted. He is just a kid and I try to be objective. Like I said I consult several college coaches but that is not the sole source for my rankings. Film is king and so is camps and combines.

I always get a chuckle out of those that say this. If a 5'9 player from Breathitt County rates as the 10th best OL in the state of KY it says more about the level of football in Ky than anything else.

Long is a GREAT kid. And like you said, this young man should not be judged because he's someone's son who may not be liked or for some other reason. Long is a good football player too. Is he the best center this year? I dont know. But I do know William is one of the most humble, quite, well mannered young men that I've been around and he has plenty of talent. And you are very correct on your statement about his height. I believe that will be what keeps him from getting any D-1 or D-2 offers. Very seldom do you see a kid that's 5'7" or 5'8", not sure of his exact height, play at those levels. Particularly on the offensive or defensive lines. I could be wrong though, who knows. In my opinion, Long will play on the D-3/NAIA level and be a pretty good player at that level. Nothing at all wrong with playing on those levels either. Good luck to him and all the rest of the young men that made your list. Some fine football players from top to bottom.

I have watched the line very close since my son plays there. Couldn't agree more my friend. Watching trench football is the best. Most people only see the big throws, big runs, big tackles, and touchdowns. But if you really want to see some football, watch what's going on in the trenches that allow all those other things to happen.

And I also agree on what you said about some kids just aren't college material. Not a thing wrong with that. And just because you may not go to college to play football doesnt mean that you wasnt a good high school player. That's why I get upset when I hear people talk down on D3 and NAIA football. Man, it's an honor to just play college football no matter what level it is. Over 90% of high school athletes never play college football. So to be able to play at any level is special in my opinion.

Like others have said, heard nothing but great things about the kid. Humble and well-spoken.

But if camps and combines and recruiters and coaches are factors, you'd think a two-time All-state selection already would have more offers.

Unless size is the end-all, be-all. Is it?

And like someone else said, throws the strength/validity of the list into question if a top-10 senior just picked up his first offer and it is a non-scholarship program. Especially when two guys several spots below him have 5-plus DI offers.

I believe his dad used his pay-for-vote (he started a website to promote his son and bought an AP membership to promote his son) to pump up (to no college avail) his undersized son.

He is a weightroom beast. And like I said, good kid. Can't find anywhere ripping on the kid himself.

But I can post the COACHES' All-State team. He didn't make honorable mention (but Collins from Breathitt did). Meaning there were like 20+ other linemen over him.

Several kids on your list have tons more offers.

So unless you are going on film ONLY (and you're weighting film over darn near everything else you listed: High School coaches, college coaches, college recruiters), I don't see how he vaults into the top 10.

I could definitely understand 20s. Maybe even teens.

Not top 10.

I'd say the same thing in basketball (somewhat about size) if a 5-8 guard's best offer was Centre, if someone put him over bigger guys from bigger schools with better offers.

Or if a softball (not really about size in that sport) player's best offer was Midway.

I don't disagree with most of your lists (either one, DL or OL).

But I'm NOT the only one questioning Long's ranking on here. Two others have as well. I'm just the most vocal one.

I understand the complaint kind of. With Long I do go mostly on film but also the 1 combine I attempted and 1 camp I attended he was also at. If it were all about offers then Goodwin is a clear 2nd on the list. However if you have watched his film that isn’t accurate. Make sense? And basketball is the same. Every year there is a 5’8 guard that is a top 10 player in the state that only gets offered by Asbury because they are 5’8 slow and unathletic. Doesn’t mean they aren’t a top 10 player in HS. I still believe the ranking is accurate. Maybe we just agree to disagree. I think you have all 30 show up at a full pads camp the ranking ends up about this way. Honestly.
