What are your thoughts on the stimulus checks that are going to be mailed out? I have heard everyadult making under $1,000,000.00 will receive one. I have also heard each person will get between $1,000-$2,000. What have you read\heard about this? Who do you believe should receive these checks?
03-20-2020, 03:21 AM
IMO, if you we're not employed when the massive shutdowns \layoffs occurred, you should not get a check. Am I wrong in feeling this way?
03-20-2020, 03:39 AM
i think people should receive checks no matter what the circumstance whether they were unemployed or not prior to the virus pandemic.

1. Who is paying for that (yes I know the answer)
2. All the people that dont pay any taxes what so ever will be getting a check too? Why?
3. If you havent lost your job, or lost pay because of the virus, why should you get a check?

All good points. If you arenât a tax payer or was working prior to this but lost their job right before the pandemic took place for whatever reason but was trying to find a job I think should still receive a check

This country is 20 trillion dollars in debt and people still act like it’s a real number we owe to someone. The bully doesn’t pay back money they owe. The money is to “save” the economy anyways. It’s not to save grandma and her starving cats.

The simple fact is that government is a consumer of wealth, not a creator of wealth. If government suppresses economic activity by forcing businesses to close, then there is no economy to be stimulated. The last thing in the world that I want to see is an idiot like Joe Biden in the White House. Biden was an imbecile before he compounded his problems with senility. However, nobody should fool themselves into believing that this so-called "stimulus" is anything other than a desperate, bipartisan effort to protect as many incumbent politicians as possible.

:biglmao: You just trashed any stimulus and then blamed it on the only guy who has no power in this scenario. You may not like Biden, but he has absolutely nothing to do with the mess we are in now. I think they call that displaced aggression.
If the stimulus doesn't go to Americans this time instead of corporations there may be millions of bankruptcies by this time next year. I doubt the economy can stand that.

I personally do not think a $2 trillion "stimulus" would be a good thing no matter who receives the checks.

Given the choice between giving $2 trillion to corporations who have created the overwhelming majority of jobs in this country for generations and cutting checks to everybody, including deadbeats who have never even held a job, let alone created one, then my vote would be for the corporate employer over those who are chronically unemployed by choice.
Democrats are not obstructing the passage of a stimulus package out of concern for American citizens. Their concern is that Republicans will buy more votes with stimulus dollars than they will.
You seem to believe that Democrats truly give a $##! about your well being. I think they call that the willing suspension of the exercise of common sense.
If the two major political parties actually cared about the long term welfare of Americans, they would not be destroying our economy and driving us deeper into debt. The problem is that this country is so polarized, neither party dares explain that millions of people are going to suffer a drastic drop in quality of life, if not death, no matter what actions our elected "leaders" take. Diseases kill people. It's nobody's fault and there is no magic bullet to prevent death.

Save the airlines, cruisers, and oil industries but not Americans...ok ?!

The Democrat Party's decades long mission to gnaw off the hands that feed Americans would have warmed the hearts of Stalin and Mao. Unfortunately, more than a few Republicans have joined their cause.
If it was possible to make a nation prosperous by printing more money and handing it out on the basis of need or want, then it would have been done a long, long time ago. Paper is cheap, but money is worthless unless somebody has earned it through hard work and ingenuity.

Many Americans are making sacrifices for a minority that could die from this virus. I think prosperity is the least of our worries at this point.
In the darkest time we worry about our addiction to printing money?

Prosperity is what provides a nation's people with food, housing, medicine, and security. It should always have a place in our thoughts, no matter how dark the time.

America will be prosperous again. It's imperative that Congress cook up a stimulus plan that helps Americans and encourages them to stay healthy over this period. It will take a lot of courage and self-control to maintain and be diligent. Courage I'm afraid some don't have.

A nation cannot tax or borrow its way to prosperity. How do we know? Because many have tried and all that have tried have failed miserably.
You cannot force people to stay in their homes and forfeit their jobs on the one hand and stimulate the economy by borrowing money and throwing it into the masses of the suddenly unemployed and the intentionally unemployed with the other hand. It is illogical to believe that the state and federal government can simultaneously trash the economy and stimulate it.
Let's be honest and call this boondoggle what it is...an Incumbent Politician Relief package.

Unless you want to turn everything loose this crap sandwich that we are going to have to deal with since we drug our feet in February.
And to be honest we are still allowing states to drag their feet.
You either have to pay people to stay at home for 60-90 days, or you risk it all.
Which is it?

There are many choices that this nation can make to deal with coronavirus between doing nothing and agreeing to Nancy Pelosi's attempt to destroy our economy beyond repair.
The extent of basic economic illiteracy on display in this country is absolutely disgusting.

Didnât the Senate just pass the Republican led plan? You can say this is democrat destruction, but it seems there are plenty of Republicans including the president on board.
This is a nationwide crisis the federal government should be heavily involved.
People have sounded like you for 40 years, yet you keep voting in Republicans that keep increasing the national debt through wars and tax cuts. What do you call knowing better and doing it anyway?

I also said that Democrats are only concerned about buying more votes with the borrowed money than Republicans, which is why they are trying to attach so many items to the bill not remotely related to the coronavirus pandemic.
If Donald Trump can hold onto the White House by borrowing less than the $2.5 trillion Pelosi wants to waste and save us all from the embarrassment of a Joe Biden presidency, then I will reluctantly climb aboard that train.

Well...those guys havenât proven to be too conservative.
Nancy sure has been busy with that Senate plan.
Lol...that number is $6 trillion as of now.
Trump is in trouble. He may need 12 trillion to win.

Only one bill will arrive on Trump's desk for his signature. Congress will not be adding the cost of Nancy's wish list to the cost of the Senate bill. The cost of that single bill will not be $6 trillion.
I wish that the Republican Party was more conservative but things could be worse - both major American political parties could be dominated by socialists and communists.
