Doesn't Hazard lose 6 seniors and 3 of those starters. Also heavily thought that this to be Big Al's last year considering his health. I could be wrong.

Leslie and Buckhorn should be better next season. They only lost 1 starter between them as far as I know.

Wolfe should be the favorite going into the season but with the 14th region you never know how it will play out in the end. 2020-2021 should be an exciting season of basketball.

Wolfe
Losing Brewer will sting BUT they return their top 6 scorers with Johnson, W. Tolson, Thompson, E. Tolson, Ritchie and Peyton. Basically have the same team that lost in the region final by 6 in OT. I feel like they are the favorite going into next season?

Hazard
They lose 3 of their top 4 scorers in Hall, Johnson & Fletcher. Fletcher also led the team in rebounding with Hall right behind him. Johnson led the team statistically in three point and free throw shooting. Losing basically their entire front court, possibly the best in the region, will be TOUGH to replace. They do return their leading scorer and one of, if not the, best player in the region with Pelfrey and also return Napier, Ford and Turner who were solid players.

Perry
They lose 3 of their top 4 scorers in Reed, Cornett & Fugate. Reed also led the team in rebounding with Cornett right behind him. Losing Reed will be a BIG loss. That is their top scorer, rebounder and defender. They do however return their second leading scorer in Duff along with Beverly, Brock & Day plus the big boys McAlarnis, McKenzie & Mullins. They all have big game experience and will be solid. Just stating a fact here but you have to go all the way back to the 2010/2011 season to find a PCC team that didn’t have a “transfer” on it so we’ll have to see how that plays out this summer.

Knott
They return their top 3 scorers who are very solid players in Napier, Damron & McGuire (leading rebounder). They lose Jason Williams who was a solid player and second on the team in rebounding. They’ve got a couple young guys who will be able to step up and contribute as well.

Estill
They return 4 of their top 5 scorers with Napier, Long, Isfort and Click BUT they lose Mr. Do It All with Benton who led the team in scoring, including three point and free throw shooting and also led the team in rebounding and was no doubt a great leader on the floor and locker room.

Leslie
They return their top 5 leading scorers and rebounders in Day, Hensley, Abner, Baker & Asher. Some of those guys will need to improve their game this summer in order to compete for a district and region title but don’t count them out. Their biggest issue will be developing a bench.

Breathitt
They lose their leading scorer and three point shooter in Fugate but return a solid bunch with Slaughter, O’Hara, Turner, Bellamy, Hoskins & Sperry. The Bobcats will have a nice team returning.

Buckhorn
They lose a solid player in Blank but return their top 3 scorers with Collins, Bowling & Knight. Stidham also returns who is solid along with three point specialist Nick Whitaker.
#20
Knott only loses the Williams kid.
#21
Definitely going to be a better year as far as quality of the teams in the 14th next season. This year while competitive, was a down year as far as strength in the 14th.

Wolfe
Knott
Breathitt
Buckhorn
Leslie
Pcc
Hazard
Wide open after that.

I'd give the edge to Knott over Wolfe. If not has McGuire in the region then it is a different ballgame.

Knott will be really good next year, but I have to disagree that they’ll have an edge over Wolfe. The Ritchie kid will be much bigger and stronger. Jazz Johnson will be a man! Wilgus Tolson has turned into a star! Sawyer Thompson should be considered one of the if not the best junior in the 14th. Wolfe went from only winning 10 games to being of the top teams in the region. I look for them to be one of the most exciting teams in the state next year.
#25
No way Knott will be better than Wolfe. Yes you guys get McGuire back but Wolfe is the better team. Too many guards that can score 20 a piece on any given night
#26
I’d have to agree with FunFan. Though we will never know, and it’s just speculation from watching previous games, but McGuire, rather he is scoring, rebounding or not, makes a difference in any game. Guards won’t be driving down the middle as easily as they did with McGuire in the paint. He causes teams to tweak their offenses, take tougher shots and he is a good shot blocker, averaging 3 or 4 a game before he got injured. But, I do agree with Wildcat, that Wolfe plays better team ball. If Knott figures out how to share the ball and pass until you get the best shot, they will be much better. They have the talent, but gotta play team ball, not me ball..I watched a lot of games this past season. Hazard played the best team ball as any team I had seen in years. They deserved the championship. Maybe teams will look at how they played and learn some things. Wolfe has talent. Wilgus Tolsen is the best player on that team. Johnson can be just as good, but not as consistent as Tolsen. Ritchie got some great experience, and will become a great player, but McGuire will be able to take him in the post. If you saw the Martin Co. games, you would agree, McGuire outplayed James, a kid that signed DI, both times. So Knott has the edge in the post, Wolfe and Knott both have talented guards/shooters, but Wolfe has the edge when it comes to overall guard play. Will be interesting and entertaining for sure next season. Breathitt will be in the mix, got some young guns that play well. Man I miss basketball! Sports in general at this point! All y’all stay healthy out there!
