Wolfe County 74 Knott County 64 (14th region semifinal)
#1
After going down 42-38 midway through the 3rd, Wolfe outscores Knott 36-22 the rest of the way and will advance to the 14th Region Championship game

#4

I remember them being really close with the Sam Dunn team but couldn't remember if they'd ever been before.

Lost in the finals in 2001 with a team led by Sam Dunn. It was at Knott County that year as well.
#7
Pretty sure this is only Wolfe County’s 3rd time getting to the regional finals in school history.

Congrats to the wolves. This team is legit
#9
Would love to see Wolf , win the 14

Wolfe has showed a lot of maturity in this tournament, they will need 1 more great performance to get to Rupp but I think they can and will do it. Rebounding will be the key. Hazard will want to make it a slow game and try to pound it inside.

Wolfe has grown up a ton in the last year.
Last year that were a team of Freshman and Sophomores who couldn’t guard anyone and just trying to learn how to play at the varsity level and only won 10 games. And now a year later every kid on the team is bigger, stronger, faster than they were a year ago and have won 21 games and playing for a regional championship. Good things coming for Wolfe County. And they return 7 of their top 8 players next season.

Great win for Wolfe. Good luck Tuesday. I agree Wolfe will be tough next year, I also think Knott will be top 3 easily with McGuire returning, he will replace Williams in the starting lineup. Williams will be missed , but Knott will be a major threat next season...

Congratulations Wolves!! They played with heart and grit! Refs let them play for the most part, and it was a fun game to watch. Defense and free throws were key in this victory. Wolfe County will be even tougher next year, losing only 1 player I believe. Wilgus Tolsen, Jaz Johnson, Sawyer..all return. The 8th grader played tough tonight and will be outstanding his junior and senior season.
Knott County played two great games in this tournament. Finally started passing the ball and played more as a team. Wish McGuire could have joined his team for tournament, but will return to the starting lineup next season. Knott only loses Williams, who was a huge rebounder, but Knott will be tough as well next season. This junior class of boys is loaded with talent.

Congrats wolves looks like the road to Rupp runs through Campton this year

If Wolfe wins the 14th, they will have wins over Perry, Knott and Hazard in the tournament.

I imagine that would be the first time that's ever happened, and it would be a pretty telling sign of how things have changed.

^Or it shows how things haven’t changed.
To win the 14th region you’ll always have to beat the 3 powers of the 14th (maybe not all of them but you have to go through 1 or 2 of the 3!

I think Wolfe has only been in the championship game once, back in the early 2000’s . They used to be in our district and I can’t recall them ever making the championship game while in the 56th but once. They moved to the 55th in 2006. So I think this is their second time to advance this far in the regional tournament but I could be wrong. Maybe they made it to the finals back in the ‘40s or ‘50s but if they did I can’t ever recall anyone from Wolfe mentioning it.

I’m just saying for the last decade (and then some) it would have been unheard of to think Wolfe County could beat all three of those teams.

In the last few years we’ve seen Buckhorn and Estill win the 14th and it’s a possibility Wolfe County wins it this week. Things just aren’t the same anymore.

Also, don’t anyone think I'm sleeping on Hazard. I’m just talking about how competitive the 14th is.

Wolfe has been to the finals two other times, both times hazard was the team to beat them.

Think the first time was in 1969, don’t know who played on that team.
Last time was 2001 and they had the 14th region player of the year in Sam Dunn.
Hope the roles are reversed tomorrow night.
That year Wolfe was the favorite and Hazard was the underdog. And Hazard won.
Tomorrow night hazard is the favorite and Wolfe the underdog.
But if Wolfe’s shooters keep knocking down shots, and can keep Hazard off the Boards. Could finally be Wolfe’s time.

If game between Hazard and Wolfe is a physical as the games has been so far in tournament. It favored Hazard. Hazard likes the game to be a physical style of basketball with Fletcher, Hall.
