Cards move on to play Pikeville this Thursday

Cards keep rolling.
Blackcats are really struggling right now. Unless they catch fire shooting, the season looks like it might end next Tuesday. Itâs disappointing too, because they started off the season with some impressive wins and looked good doing it. Once they dropped some games around Christmas it seems like the wheels just fell off. Losing your primary ball handler in Justice to injury certainly didnât help. Just not much team chemistry right now. Theyâre better than what theyâve shown.

I think MC comes out with a district title this year. Playing at home helps but if James is dominating the glass the only player in the 57th that can compete with him is Keaton and I don't see Paintsville making it past a Tommy McKenzie coached team in March.

Coach Tommy and his Big Teddy Bear will have the Eagles ready for District play

I donât know why they quit, especially with the district tourney next week. Sad to see. This season shouldâve been a lot different.

Brent Roses teams scores look a lot different when Mike Hall, Bobby Hackworth, and Arnold wheeler aren’t officiating the games.

I donât see that being an issue. The last game at Central was honestly horrendous. Iâve watched a LOT of highschool basketball for close to 30 years and that one was at the top. Grabbing, hanging all over Nicks arms and no call. The kid guarding Fugate literally had 2 hand fulls of Colbys Jersey many times just to stay with him and not the first whistle. Fugate made a point to tell the ref to watch it and he would look at it happening and turn his head. Iâve always said I donât care if officials are bad as long as theyâre bad on both ends. Paintsvilleâs game at Martin co had a good officiating group. Some calls here and there but thatâs expected. Over all, a well called game. The neutral site will take that stuff away and will be an even playing field and that wonât bode well for JC. Position per position its awful hard for them to cover. Look for Keaton to have a BIG night in the paint. Even better than the first matchup.

Odd how that makes a difference at times? 😏

Iâve watched a few games this year and officiating has been consistently awful. I know it canât be easy to ref a game with constant scrutiny from fans but like you said at least be bad on both sides. I look forward to the matchups in the 57th. I just think a Tommy McKenzie coached team is hard to beat during tournament time.

Canât speak for May but NO Fugate and Potter do not get guarded like that every game. With Fugate and Potter being so similar Iâve watched them allot. Do most teams glue a defender on them? Yes and there are times they are grabbed, pulled and hung onto with no call but never have either been defended like THAT outside of that game. The no calls on Fugate were bad but they were no where near as bad as the âon ballâ defense on Keaton. JC got their game plan to defend Fugate from the Hazard game, itâs just that The Hazard defender was much quicker and was able to defend without grabbing or hanging for the most part. I thought the Bulldogs player covered Fugate extremely well. Donât get me wrong I get it, itâs tough to stay with a player like that and frustrations tend to come out but it has to be called. I guess seeing it through yellow lenses kept you from actually seeing what went on and I get that too. Thereâs a lot of that happens. That wasnât Paintsvilleâs only loss and it surely wasnât the only poorly officiated game that the 15th Region has witnessed, it just happened to have been 1 of the worst. Neutral site should work out much better for both teams.

I was told he was out for the season, without question. Injury suffered during All A.

Paintsville is the better team and will prove that next week in Inez. You shut down May and you beat Central because he will get frustrated and start hoisting threes up just to get his shots. Paintsville will also control the paint and the will win the rebounding game because Central has no low lost presence.

James is the most protected player in the 15th region so he should dominate.

Bobby Hackworth is one of the best officials in the 15th.
