Why doesn't D & D Sports or local schools live stream games from the EXPO center?
Sometimes people can't make it to the games but would like to watch them on Youtube. The EXPO center should allow all schools playing in the tournament to broadcast their schools games. Are the people at the EXPO Center not interested in promoting local student athletes ???

They donât allow live broadcasts of games. Just a live radio stream because they say itâll hurt their attendance money at the gate much like most sports teams are looking at now.

Do it in house or contract someone to live broadcast the regional tournaments for a fee. KHSAA does is through NFHS and I think itâs $8.99 or $9.99 a month and you can cancel at anytime.
They can make a few bucks off of it and gain even more exposure through selling ads during the broadcasts. Iâm sure PMC, App Wireless, etc would pitch in to help. Itâs 2020, make it happen.

To live stream at the Expo they require a huge fee. A few that basically makes it impossible for any legitimate media company to feasibly do the game.
Thatâs the reason WYMT canât do the 13th or 15th region tournament games. The Arena and The Expo shut that down.
If youâre going to broadcast on anything other than the NFHS network you also have to pay the KHSAA a rights fee during the postseason.

But to answer the last question, the Expo folks want to make money. They promote student athletes, but itâs a business decision.

This is one of the reasons the Regional Tournament should go back to the schools and quit funding the Expo Center at the expense of the students and school districts.

I would love to see them utilize Allen Central field house for the regional tourney. Neutral site, BIG gym. We donât need the EXPO Center plus if youâve ever watched a game there fans only occupy a small portion of the seating. The atmosphere is Rarely good In that big of a venue. You can barely hear the opposing side. I understand that they may be trying to get teams a âcloser to Ruppâ type feel but The overall emptiness of some games can sometimes be a negative.

I have to disagree with most posters on here it hurts the gate tremendously. The 14tH should do the same thing. These schools need the revenue. These media companies are businesses they make money from their advertising on the games WYMT gives schools 250 dollars when they broadcast in a game like Hazard vs Perry or a regional tourney game that is equivalent to 50 tickets then you lose on concessions also. It is a money loser for the schools.

I understand what your saying but in reality if your going to the game to support your team, then your going regardless. The media outlets ONLY benefit the fans who had no intention on attending but would still like to follow the game. Iâve witnessed it too many times this season and in past seasons. No matter the the matchup and what media outlets are in the house Paintsville and Johnson Central always have big crowds. If a school doesnât then they need to look at whatâs wrong with their Basketball program? Are they charging to much per person to attend? Are they just having a down season and not much interest? Whatâs the issue internally? Pointing the finger at someone else and saying theyâre the problem is not what needs done. I see the same thing for the Region at the EXPO. If my team is in it I will be there! Now if work or something comes up and prevents me from attending yes I would love to be able to watch it but by no means did it have any effect on my not going. To me itâs Itâs just an easy cop out.
