Won't pretend that I've seen the entire region but was impressed with what I saw from Pelphrey in the WYMT. Smooth game, doesn't force things, and very calculated in picking his spots to take over.

I wouldn't say "by far" but I agree that he is the best player in this region. He has signed to play golf as Eastern Kentucky University, so he is already a D-1 athlete, and I hear that he hears constantly from colleges and universities about joining their basketball program. Also have heard that EKU is interested in offering him a spot for basketball. I would assume it would be a PWO since he will already be on a golf scholarship.

Benton is a very interesting player to watch. The point guard for Wolfe is also a fun watch. Iâve not seen Reed play but Iâve heard he plays well.

I'm not sure how Junior Trent Day isn't in the Mix past 10 games he's been averaging around 27 ppg and have led the Eagles to 8 Wins in 11 games..

No1 is putting up those numbers mentioned.. lol

Beverly is good. But I agree. No where near top 5 in region.

I agree Trent Day is a solid player, the best on Leslie' team, but Leslie is actually 5-6 in its last 11 games, and Day hasn't scored at least 27 in any of those games, and actually scored around 14-18 ppg in most of them, did have 25 in one and 26 in another, but no where near averaging 27 ----this all according to KHSAA website with the team stats

Wolfe's point guard is Wilgus Tolson, and he is a very good player - Tolson and Johnson for Wolfe form a tremendous backcourt, I have watched them a couple times this year and what I really like about both of them is their defense. Both players are very strong and quick on D, if they can stay on the floor, Wolfe is a tough tough team to beat.

Trent Day actually scored 28 against buckhorn and 32 against Letcher central

McGuire of Knott is injured and out for the season but he would be in my top 5 somewhere if available to play.

It would help his case if they were winning any real games. They have 9 wins on the season and all of them are against the worst 4 teams in the 14th region. Except the pike central win who is one of the worst teams in the 15th this year.

In the last 11 games Trent Day is averaging 21 ppg per KHSAA. These last 4 home games will tell a lot for leslie. Lost to Breathitt by 6 in the all A, lost to hazard by 5. Lost to buckhorn in overtime. Playing a lot closely to some of the top teams in the region. Another top player for Leslie that won't be mentioned on any list because he's defensively driven is Trent Asher. Can shut down any guard in the region. Held Pelfry to 1 made field goal in the second half of their last meeting. All players on everyone's list are nice players. Will be a fun 14th regional tournament to watch this year.

I think in order to be a top player, you must be able to do more than score, so much more to the game. You can score 20 points a game but shoot 30 shots..not to good in my opinion. So canât rank on scoring alone. Assist, being able to see and read the floor. Making good passes, boxing out, rebounding, blocking shots, good free throw shooter..cause come on, you should make free throws..lol Playing defense. Just a lot that goes into being a player. I like MVPâs and jump shooters list in no particular order. All are better in different aspects of the game..but all dandy players.

If we were gonna go just by scoring average, then Xander from Jackson City would have to be one of the top players. Youâd also have to throw in Slade Sizemore.

Joe Benton is a great high school player, and deserved the player of the year award. He is the most critical player to his team in the region and could take them to another regional championship, who knows. I think Joe and Jaz Johnson are the only two players in the region that lead their team in both scoring AND rebounding, thats some big numbers. Congratulations Joe Benton !
