54th District Draw
#1
The 54th District Draw is set for this coming Tuesday February 4th! What are your all's predictions of the draw!

I think the 54th district is the most competitive district in the state. This district will be hosted at Leslie County.

How's this district play out! Let's hear it!

Hazard and PCC are the best 2 teams in District. If they draw opposite they both will go to the regional tourney. Leslie is a hard place to play and the have the Day Kid, who is one of the best players in the region. If Leslie draws opposite Hazard and PCC they have a real chance of going, in fact should go.

I dont think there is a good draw this year, pretty much picking your own poison.

Leslie--You have to beat them on their home court.

Buckhorn-Capable of beating any team, had a halftime lead @ Hazard, played PCC tough for 3 quarters and beat Leslie.

PCC- team is peaking at the right time. Shannon always has his team ready this time of year. The loss of Brock will hurt.

Hazard-Region favorite.

What happened to Brock?

I was told he tore something in his knee in practice other night.

The last time Hazard and Perry drew each other in District was in 2016 which was also the last time the tournament was hosted by Leslie. Perry won that game in overtime 70-69.

Crazy that this District still does a blind draw, the rest of the region Im sure is happy about that most years, but seeding is the only fair way to go.

I think they need to fix the 54th district. Usually 4 of the top 8 teams in the in region are from the 54th district. Then you have a joke district like Breathitts... lol

This is sarcasm, right? lol. Is this true this year? MAYBE. but name a time in which Leslie AND Buckhorn have been in the top 4 of the region. lol. Get out of here with that.

Read what i said you idiot. I said the 4 teams in the 54th are always in the top 8 teams in the region.

Either way, you are DEAD WRONG. Leslie and Buckhorn are not consistently in the top 8 of the region. Have a great day, pal. Hope the draw goes your way, because if not, you better find a comfy spot to enjoy the region tournament from.

Lol,

They actually are just always over looked about 90% of the time. If they are in any other district besides the 54th they would make the region tournament more than often. Also if Hazard I'd Perry don't recruit like this year they would always be in the top of the region. This is the 1st time in idk how long that all these players from Hazard are actually from hazard.

Leslie is a team that has really started clicking lately.. They had a hiccup against Buckhorn, a game they should've won, but lost in overtime. Trenton Day putting up 25-30 a game and a times 10-15 in a row makes Leslie a tough fight... They'll be hard to beat at home with the tournament environment. With that being said, I think they're the only team that has the ability to keep Hazard from winning district. Of course they only beat Perry on a buzzer beater, but they were obviously the far superior team. Buckhorn will be a first round exit no matter who they play.. Not that they're a bad team, just don't stack up with the others.

Going back 15 years... PCC leads Region visits at 12, Hazard has 10, Buckhorn has 5, and Leslie has 3.

Pcc won last year.
Buckhorn won in 2016.
Hazard last won in 2009.
Leslie’s best run was in 2005 where they finished runner up to PCC.

I don’t see Leslie making it out of first round no matter who they play, but they may prove me wrong. Of course PCC and Hazard are the top 2, but I think Buckhorn could possibly beat either if they put a full 32 minutes of play together. Unless Pcc and Hazard get each other, I think they will be going to region for the 3rd year in a row.

About 75% chance Hazard and Perry draw each other wait and see.

When is their draw?

Hopefully PCC/Hazard doesn’t draw each other but if they do it will probably be another classic!

Today is the day for the draw at Leslie

Leslie plays Hazard and Perry plays Buckhorn

Hazard and PCC will obviously be favored in the first round games, but neither should look ahead to the championship game, Leslie and Buckhorn are defiantly capable of pulling an upset, should be a great 54th District Tournament

How long has it been since Leslie won the 54th District ? Can they ever win it again ?

I dont know the answer but I do remember back in 06. LC had a stacked team and that fell short in district to Hazard by 1. They were one of the region favorites that year.

Anything is possible the 54th is one of the most competitive in the state. Hazard,Perry, Buckhorn are almost always competitive and Leslie has had some good teams in the past. This year Hazard returned almost everyone from a team that came within a whisker of beating Perry in the finals last year and they got the jump on everyone else but things have kinda evened out and the district is going to be an old fashioned barn burner. This was supposedly Hazard’s year if they don’t win it this year may be a long dry spell. Region seems wide open but I still think Hazard has a slight edge.
#28
54th has always been very competitive dating back to the early days of Memorial Gym which was recently honored as an historic site for basketball. This year will be no different. expect at least 1 team out of there to be in the 14th Regional finals. Mark it down. Peace be among us brothers. Brother Cecil

With Hazard and PCC drawing opposite each other, odds are both will make the Regional and one or both end up in Regional finals.
