Leslie County is a mess. They have some real talent but locking a kid out is the most childish thing I have ever heard of. Kids always talk about leaving or whatever but until he does he is still a part of that team. Head Coach should be fired immediately. I heard he was threatening to block any transfer also after locking the kid out. What a tool. Nothing keeps coaches from changing whenever they want, let the kids do the same. So ridiculous.

Do you think Breathitt is the only school who is actively recruiting kids? I hate to break the bad news to you, but every program is doing it behind the scenes. With that being said, I don't agree with it at all, but this is the "new norm" in high school athletics.

No this, is ridiculous... Not locked out.. get your info right.. Publicly telling everyone he is transferring in Spring.. But the worst part is setting up meetings and attending the meeting with said school. Kid was given the option to decide and return if that's his decision. he's not returned...

Hopefully the KHSAA will step in and keep Breathitt from bringing in another batch of transfers.

Asher not going anywhere heard he was staying.

Good for Leslie County

You either committed to a program or not. If not I donât blame the coach from banning him from the weight room. I have watched Leslie play a few times. Spurlock is a solid player, but Leslie has talented young players ready to step and play. Heard the Pugh kid was the real deal at LB. Also heard the Davidson kid was a stud at OT. With Asher returning they will be fine.

I was in Ohio last week for a HS basketball game. Watching a team who just lost 2 kids who had transferred in at beginning of school year. Transfers required to sit out 2nd half of season and all of postseason. I assume that's a OHSAA rule. Seems like a good way to stop/slow the transfers. Would that work here in Ky.? BTW, if the Leslie kid met with Breathitt's staff, I'm pretty sure that's some kind of violation.

It should absolutely be a violation.

I agree. Breathitt just had a couple big transfers last year that lifted them to a semifinal appearance so I think the spotlight is more on them.

I'm sure they had no more "transfers" than Belfry, Pikeville, Johnson Central ,etc. How many kids from across the border does Belfry and Pikeville have. How many players from Floyd Co are playing where there not supposed to.
01-28-2020, 08:10 PM
Unless you have proof of other schools having transfers then you shouldn't assume. Breathitt on the other hand made know attempt to hide it on social media. Sad thing is they're in a weak conference, and it was the only way to win. It's hard to call Collins a transfer due to family, and his issue behind it, but a transfer is a transfer it's just a matter of the reason for the transfer.

Wolfecat you are beating a "dead horse" with some of these people. Breathitt had one legit transfer last year, with that being William Long. One thing you can say about the Long family is they actually live in Breathitt County, unlike other schools, with kids not residing in their school districts. At the end of the day, transfers and recruiting are now a major part of high school athletics. As I have said in the past, I don't agree with it, but it is, what it is!!

Kids wanna transfer to win a state title because they think that's going to get them looked at on the college. Parents around here is something else. You don't transfer to another eastern Kentucky school to get looked at. You all are just uneducated and simply your kid isn't good enough to play D-1 football. Wish they would just face that fact and let kids play with their friends they grew up with. Transferring helps nothing but the school they go to. After they graduate that school will care less about you. Especially playing one year there 😅😭😅😭😅😭😅😭😅😅😭😭😭😭😭 PARENTS NEED TO WAKE UP!

U donât understand Eagleln....the coaching is completely pitiful they have no want to win not one coach on that team they have the potential to be very good but not with their coaches they care nothing for either of them they wonât progress...so I got an idea you should probably change ur name to up Eddie meltons ass. honestly fact is ur probably a coach ainât you
01-29-2020, 05:40 PM
Leslies coaching is awful the team they had should have won every game no coaching at all
01-29-2020, 05:48 PM
Can't coach like it was in the 80s! You wouldn't have a player on team on how the game has changed! Can't even hit the QB in NFL and not get fined! Some parents don't know how to adapt to 2020 style football. Until your a head coach yourself i wouldn't be dissing on anyone that coaches any team. If I've not mistaken Eddie has won 3 district championships and played in like 6 or 7. The 3 they won they just had a better team than the eagles have right now. They got no athletes. YOU CANT WIN WITHOUT SPEED I DONT CARE IF NICK SABEN IS COACHING! Lol

Rumor is he has a Preferred walk on to EKU right now. I think he will kill this combine in Indianapolis in the best few weeks. If he gets his 40 time down on the laser to a 4.59 (currently a 4.63) he will pick up a scholarship offer. He could play RB, SR, DB, S, of ecen outside linebacker in college.
01-29-2020, 06:42 PM
Everyone going to college to play any sport isn't promised to play. It's all about the work when you get their. I've seen 5 star kid that go to college and not play. And I've seen kids that are on the practice squat for years then when an opportunity comes they kill the moment and play from their on out. So no1 is promised anything in college. Getting there is the easy part. Actually getting to play now that's the hard part.
01-29-2020, 06:44 PM
Thatâs the best thing Iâve heard out of you
01-29-2020, 07:14 PM
As a fan Either way it goes its Iâll take heart over speed any day. The will to push urself as hard as spurlock and Napier they both played injured. I had the chance to talk with both of them about their injuries as the season went on both of which Pushed their selves to make their seasons everything they could
01-29-2020, 07:17 PM
Your absolutely insane if you think this team was better than the 2011 team or the 2016 team. Both of them teams would have beat 2019 Leslie and 2019 Breathitt by 28 points or more..... let's be real here competition was way better 6 or 7 years ago. Don't make me name the players off their teams. They no comparison lol.....
01-29-2020, 07:19 PM
And heart goes along ways but i don't know if you have ever been around a college program... they don't care about how much heart you got if you don't got the speed to make the play then heart means absolutely nothing. They look for speed, strength, and heart all in one. They have options all over the country to find a kid with those 3 things.
01-29-2020, 07:26 PM
Hard work beats talent
01-29-2020, 07:26 PM
Donât be offended but last year was their chance
01-29-2020, 07:29 PM
I believe in hard work but i know kids that worked harder than anyone in that locker room and just because they didn't have the size or speed they didn't succeed in college. College is all based on speed. This isn't the 80s football anymore. You have really really fast athletes. In College most linebackers are now basically a 6"5 SAFTEY.
01-29-2020, 07:35 PM
Beechwood is gonna be TOUGH next year. This year was just a very young team. We have played that team for 30 years here at Pikeville and Iâm tellin ya they will be back in the title hunt.
01-29-2020, 07:38 PM
I agree ! Beechwood has true speed on that team. Young athletes that can RUNNNN
