2013 and 2014 I can't really disagree with you as one of the three best of the decade. However, I have to disagree with you about the 2017 team. Do you really think that team was better than the 2018 team? I know that the 2017 team was state runner up, but they just got hot at the right time. 2018 team was good the whole year and were better offensively and had a better defense IMO.

2010, 2015, and 2019 for West Carter in no particular order

I agree with you. It was just hard to leave them out of my top 3 with the State Championship appearance. 18 was definitely more consistent throughout the season.

Greenup County 2010, 2015, 2016

Here is a good question, what do you think are the top 3 wins of the decade for your team? For Raceland I would say Regional Championship 2013 vs Pikeville, State Semis 2017 vs Pikeville, and the third one is tough for me... between 2017 Regional Championship vs Paintsville, 2018 Regional championship vs Paintsville, and 2016 win vs Ashland.
#8
For Somerset, 2019 and 2010 are easily the top 2. Tough to say after that. Probably be 2018, possibly 2012 for the third best.

That 2013 team didn't start out the season well but they were a missed extra point from beating Newport Central Catholic at Newport and playing in the state finals.

As far as single game wins all of them are hard to disagree with. I would add the 2013 win against Ironton. Raceland's 500th win.

I have been doing some stat crunching exercises with the decade ending using Calpreps.

Some good data on there, and in regards to this thread it should help give some insight. Calpreps has only been calculating KY teams since 2003 though.

Since 2003, Here are the 25 strongest EKY teams (Regions 13,14,15,16 Only + Rockcastle County):

1. 2015 Belfry- 49.8
2. 2019 Johnson Central- 48.0
3. 2016 Johnson Central- 47.1
4. 2016 Belfry- 45.3* (Belfry actually beat Johnson Central in 2016, FWIW)
5. 2008 Bell County- 43.4
6. 2009 Bell County- 43.3
7. 2010 Bell County- 43.0
8. 2004 Belfry- 40.5
9. 2013 Belfry- 40.3
10. 2008 Johnson Central- 40.2

11. 2004 Bell County- 38.9
12. 2003 Belfry- 37.8
13. 2006 Johnson Central- 37.2
14. 2019 Pikeville- 37.0
15. 2010 Johnson Central- 36.6

16. 2005 Rockcastle County- 36.4
17. 2005 Russell- 35.9
18. 2019 Belfry- 35.5
19. 2018 Johnson Central- 34.8
20. 2005 Bell County- 34.4

21. 2012 Ashland- 34.2
22. 2007 Bell County- 34.0
23. 2013 Johnson Central- 33.7
24. 2014 Belfry- 33.6
25. 2011 Johnson Central- 33.5

The best Raceland team was 2008. 06 was really good. As well as the 95 and 75 teams. Imo, the 13, 14, and 17 teams all would have lost to the 2008 team. All of them had issues against balanced teams. That 08 team was loaded with size, tallent, and brains. Huge upfront, but they could all move really well. Denton and Carver out of the backfield. Boyles at QB. Defensively they were really hard to deal with as well.

As we can see, Belfry, Johnson Central, and Bell County kind of take the fun out of the Top 25.

Here is the Top 25 teams when those three programs only get to count their three best teams:

1. 2015 Belfry- 49.8
2. 2019 Johnson Central- 48.0
3. 2016 Johnson Central- 47.1
4. 2016 Belfry- 45.3* (Belfry actually beat Johnson Central in 2016, FWIW)
5. 2008 Bell County- 43.4
6. 2009 Bell County- 43.3
7. 2010 Bell County- 43.0
8. 2004 Belfry- 40.5
9. 2008 Johnson Central- 40.2

10. 2019 Pikeville- 37.0
11. 2005 Rockcastle County- 36.4
12. 2005 Russell- 35.9
13. 2012 Ashland- 34.2
14. 2011 Hazard- 33.3
15. 2008 Whitley County- 32.9

16. 2004 Russell- 32.7
17. 2010 Harlan County- 32.6
18. 2004 Prestonsburg- 32.4
19. 2017 Corbin- 32.3

Probably before your time, 1987 Raceland team was the better than all those you mentioned. The 88 team was far better than any team this decade, they were about the same level as the 06 team.

88 was before my time but I know the history lol. I'd prob go with 08, 88, and either 13 or 14. You have to throw records and achievement out the window imo and strictly go off of what each team brought to the table. I dont think 17, even though a state runner up, would even be in my top 5.

The 5 losses does it for me though. They did get hot at the right time. If I had to give an answer I'd put 2018 in the final spot. I think they could've competed with anyone in 2A last year except CAL. They really were in control of that CAL game until the scoop and score to end the first half.

06 was a really good team as well. May be the beat defensive team in school history.

The 2017 team is far from Raceland's top 5. They got hot at the right time. The five all time best at Raceland IMO are:
1987
2008
2006
2014
1988
You could throw in 2018 and 2013 in there as well. I don't think the 96 team, or whatever team went unbeaten in the regular season and lost to NCC in the first round, is a top team. They had a very weak schedule and lost to the only good team they played.

The title is for the last decade. It's gone a little off course and a little more interesting.

2010's rating is skewed because of their last two games IMO. That team was really strong but played a poor game against Breathitt in the region finals, and then followed it up with another and were upset by Belfry in the semifinals. 2010 was basically all the best players from the 2009 team that went to state, but they underachieved.

2011 was good, but they struggled offensively. The 2005 team is interesting. That roster was littered with Somerset (and state) record holders. They could probably be considered one of the best in the last 20 years at Somerset, but ran into an NCC juggernaut in the semifinals.

You can look back at almost every Somerset team in the last 20 years and find an individual that is better than anyone on the 2019 team. But as a complete team, the 2019 version of Somerset is better than all of them IMO.

I think the 2013 win over Fairview should be included in that list. From the season opener in 2010 until they played Raceland in 2013, Fairview was 44-3 and in that stretch they had won 28 consecutive regular season games. (I realize several of those wins were forfeited but those games were still won on the field).

Fairview also had the Rams number during that stretch and in my opinion this was as important of a win as any during this past decade because that was the first time in several years that Raceland had beaten a team that may had been better than them on paper.

Trinity
2010, 2011, 2017

I'd call 2011 the strongest of those years if forced to choose.

Agree with almost all of the above with a couple exceptions - Sheron is likely the best qb in that time frame at SHS (has a legitimate argument for GOAT) and give me a healthy Alex Miller and I think he’s better than any RB in that time frame, probably the best since some of the 70s/80s teams.

I agree 100% here. That game was big for that group of seniors too. They hadnt beaten Fairview if I'm not mistaken. Which was unheard of for a Raceland team to say that a group of any kids had NEVER beaten them. That is one of the best Ram performances I've ever watched. That and the first regional championship game and prob the state semi game would be in my top 3. The regional championship game against LCA in 06 was a good one as well. There was also a stretch, from 06-08 that there were classics in the Raceland/Ashland rivalry as well. Raceland won all 3 games, one in OT, one as time expired on a FG, and the other as time ran out on the Tomcats. I think the 07 team is a very underrated and forgot about team as well for Raceland.
#29
A state title WIN was not out of reach for that bunch. They lost to LCA 34-32 in a heartbreaker, after being whipped by the same LCA team that beat them 42-7 in the reg season, and that same LCA team lost by 3 in the title game.
#30
Those team couldn’t even play with the 96, 06, or the 08 teams.
