Raceland @ Paintsville Round 2 11/15
#31
2000PHS Wrote:I think one thing is for sure. Raceland is not going to let Allen wreck the game like he did in the 1st match up between these two. Raceland will have to dedicate a lineman and a TE/RB to help block him. If they let him go 1v1, it will be a long night for Heighton.

Paintsville will have to do a better job of not giving up the big play. Twice they allowed WR to get behind the secondary for long TDs. I think the WR is Lewis?? Tigers may press him at the line with help over the top- they did do that some but not all the time.

This game is going to be a close one. Don’t see either team running away with it, but I think Raceland is better equipped to come back from 2+ scores if they are forced to do so.

I don't think even with chipping and than can block him! He always seems to play a great game against them. I do agree that they will have to play more zone in the middle with help over the top. Both big plays where actually well defended but just bad judgement on the ball. We also can just give them free release of the ball.

I think Paintsville is 2 scores better but seems that Raceland always plays us tuff in the playoffs so it will be interesting. Who makes the adjustments from game one is who will win game 2!

Weather is a huge factor in this game!! As of right now no rain is in the forecast and if the field holds up I like the Rams in this one!
Raceland 26
Paintsville 19

"Not so fast" in my Corso voice, we match up well with the speed outside so the advantage would have to go to whoever has the best front 7. I think we know who has the best front 7! You can't throw the ball if you on your back! Raceland has to sell out and blitz every play to stop Paintsville's run game. The dropped touchdown in the endzone last game ends all hope but Paintsville will have to take those shots again if Raceland is going to blitz the way that they do!

They’ve got more than allen to worry about lol.

Yeah but can Paintsville over come 150 + penalty yards?? I think not..... you know there will be 3 to 4 unsportsmanlike penalties and some others thrown in there. We all know anytime Taintsville is on the field they are always a play away from a kid or two going off their rocker!

lol! I guess I can't argue with that!

They tried to chip with the RB in game 1 but you could tell it had not been practiced a whole lot, possibly it was an in game adjustment. However, now they have had 3 weeks to game plan for him. I still agree that he won a lot of the battles even with a chip from the RB. With the way we can pass rush, I wish we would bump at the line their 2 main receivers and have help over the top. Raceland also tried to and had some success with what we now call “deep overs” routes. For you old schoolers that’s a deep drag across the field about 15-25 yards deep.

Paintsville definitely the more physical team this year. The boys in Orange just don't seem to be as tough as in years past

The second half of the first game was interesting to me in how Raceland responded. Based on that Raceland wins this one. 28-14

I know I picked the Rams to win but here’s some food for thought! Raceland has one win against a team that has a winning record! Four loses to the teams on their schedule that are solid teams ...two of those in blowout fashion! Idk if that means anything but one thing is for sure...if the Rams win Friday it will be their first win this season against a good team!

I'm going with the Rams in an upset, 14-13

I guess it would be an upset in terms of RPI and rankings, but we all know these teams are evenly matched. Heck, even when they aren’t even, the games are still close.

That is true. This should be a great game regardless. Good luck to both teams.

I love how most of you guys are picking the Rams but I believe most of you all are making your picks based on history rather then this years Raceland/Paintsville teams ! Maybe I’m doing the same thing! Two things have to happen for the Rams to win.One...the weathers has to hold up! Two...the Rams need Paintsville to be Taintsville....if the Tiggers don’t produce their typical 150 yards of penalties then the Rams don’t have a shot!
#46
Should be a great game take rams 21-14
#47
Paintsville averaged less than 4 yards a carry the first game. They also completed less than 50% of their passes. Rams handcuffed their offense. This should be a close one.
#48
Tigers by 7 at home

I was under the impression Paintsville dominated first game but after looking st the stats it was a close game in all ways not just the score.

The rams averaged 2.7 yards per carry and completed 29% of their passes too. Both defenses shut down the opposing offense.

Did anything happen to the coach who threw the other teams players wristband into the stands or was that just swept under the rug . That is exactly why the players get 4 or 5 unsportsmanlike penalties in playoff games if the coaches can’t control themselves how do they expect the kids to

I don’t have an answer for that but either way, it has no bearing on the game Friday.

I’m not going to make a prediction on this game. All I know if Raceland win they will be coming to Williamsburg next week :Cheerlead

Not so bold prediction...

Someones bitching by games end about officiating and someone Bush league. Jet pilot says the winner doesnt matter bc no ones beating Pikeville. 64sur jumps back aboard the ol orange wasper wagon and the rest of us try to grasp the win or loss...

Other words it’s swept under the rug and this kind of behavior is tolerated at Paintsville. And I disagree with it not having a bearing on Friday’s game the coach got by with that what’s next hitting a player from another team? Seems to be no holds bared if your a Paintsville coach

This is a game I struggle with picking a winner. Paintsville won the previous meeting, but the weather and the overall field conditions played in the Tigers favor. As it looks now, the weather should be fine, and this gives the passing game of Raceland an advantage. This game could go either way, but I'm going to go with the Tigers at home. Paintsville wins 28-27.

In the past few years of this series Raceland has gotten into a bad habit of falling behind early and depending on a late game rally to get back in the game. If Raceland can win the first half then I like the Rams chances of being able to hold on for the win late in the game much like they did in the 2017 playoff matchup. As is always the case when these two meet up this final score will likely be within 1 score in a game that will come down to the closing minutes.

Rams 21
Tigers 17

Nut, for your information, the coach was reprimanded and was not on the sideline this past Friday. Saying "what's next, hitting a player"... That's on complete different spectrums. Should he have throw the wrist band? Absolutely not! He was reprimanded. Find something else to talk about. That's old news. You need to be more like Scotty Bronson or Orange Blaze. They actually talk football on here and not just a blow.
