Somerset may have found something in Freshman RB Jerrod Smith last night, 10 carries for 101 yards and a TD. He's not at the level Miller was yet but he may be the answer at tailback through the playoffs. Him and his twin, Jacob Smith, definitely don't look or play like Freshman out there.

Even if you don’t pull for either team you should come watch if your in the Lexington area. Bunnies sent Eagles home last year on a goal line stand in the regional finals. No score would shock me unless it’s a blowout either way. Top 3 teams in 2A are LCA, Mayfield and SHS. One of these teams won’t be playing after week 2 and it’s a shame it was aligned to be that way after a “fix”.

Even though the Bunnies have found a somewhat replacement for Miller in Freshman Smith, I think the loss to Miller will still be to much for Somerset to overcome against LCA.

To oversimplify it, Somerset has to get better line play this time than they did the first game with LCA.

The downside to the new system is that you get a game like this in the 2nd round, but in the old system it would've only been one more week so no harm there. The upside is that you'll get the two best teams in the state playing for the state title, be it LCA, Somerset, Mayfield or whoever else gets there. If they make it to the title game in the new system, then they're good enough to be there. In the old system, you'd have had LCA, Mayfield, and Somerset on the same side of the bracket. Again, there are issues with the new playoff system. These two teams playing in round 2 instead of round 3 is not one of them. 2A should be considered a win for the new system no matter how it plays out.

Lca can generate even more offense than the first game if they move their #1 receiver around especially the slot. Last game he stayed put and got held down. Somerset apparently has found a new rb. The one who played the last time was not elusive or explosive enough against LCA. The game should be a dandy again.

I'd love to see the Jumpers double up the score on the Eagles to give us old guys a chance to breathe. However, I don't think anyone from Somerset is under the illusion that this game will be anything other than an intense barnburner.

Loss of Somerset rb will be factor. Also LCA I feel is playing their best ball right now. I'm thinking Somerset peaked too early.
As others have stated this should be a 4th Rd game not 2nd.

No.....am actually for Mayfield. Love to say my kid defeated a state champion at War Memorial. I just don't think this team is defensively close to good enough. Hope I'm wrong.
