How would you rank the final 16 teams in 3A, not using the RPI? Teams left:
D1: Paducah Tilghman (8-3) Union Co. (6-5)
D2: Glasgow (10-1) Taylor Co. (9-2)
D3: E-Town (9-2) Bardstown (9-2)
D4: DeSales (8-3) CAL (7-4)
D5: Bell Co. (11-0) Rockcastle (8-3)
D6: Fleming Co. (9-2) Mason Co. (6-5)
D7: Ashland (9-2) Russell (9-2)
D8: Belfry (7-3) Pike Central (8-3)
The "eye test" and common sense will take the place of the RPI in these rankings.
How would you rank them?

Has nothing to do with the win over Floyd Central. It's my opinion. Nobody has to agree with it.
And as far as me being a "homer", wow! I guess your just another one of those tough guys that like to name call from behind the protection of a computer monitor. SMH

I mean I'm a WKY guy and I really like PTHS. But how can anyone rank them above CAL ? They both played DeSales..........PTHS game was lopsided.

Bell Co and Belfry the 2 best teams in 3A.

I tend to agree BellCo, but if you look at 3A it seems so balanced that I could make a good case for at least 8 teams to be in the semis. I think this week's match ups, except for 2 or 3 games, are going to be really good.

BellCo18 Wrote:Bell Co and Belfry the 2 best teams in 3A.
I think there's 6 teams that have enough to win 3A. Belfry, Bell, Ashland, Russell, CAL, and DeSales.
IMO, the East has way more better teams than the West this year. I think DeSales runs through that side, CAL has just been to unpredictable this year, while the East is way more complicated and more competitive with a few more better teams.
The bracket I saw, with the 4 Quadrants, Q-4 is by far the hardest. You have Belfry, Ashland, and Russell all in it with the winner playing whoever comes out of Q-3 which more than likely will be Bell County. Fleming is the only team that has a chance to even compete with Bell in that Quadrant and I dont really see that happening.
On the other side, which I call the West side, Q-1 has PT, Union, Glasgow, and Taylor County remaining while Q-2 has DeSales, CAL, E-Town, and Bardstown left. One of the top 2 teams in the west will be gone after this weekend when CAL and DeSales play for the championship of District 4.
I could be wrong and this is just my opinion but the only teams I think have a shot at winning 3A coming from the west side, Quadrants 1 and 2, is either CAL or DeSales and I think the Colts take out CAL Friday night.
Now on the east side, Quadrants 1 and 2, I think there's more teams with the potential to win 3A. Bell, Belfry, Ashland, and Russell all have the potential. But like in District 4 eliminating a contender this weekend, the same is true on the east side in District 7. Ashland or Russell will be out of the picture come Saturday morning.
In the end I think the final four will be Belfry vs Bell County and DeSales vs Paducah Tilghman playing for a trip to Kroger Field.
Hope I didn't confuse anyone with all my jibberish but this is just how I see it. I could be way off and somebody that I didnt even mention win it all but in my opinion it'll come down to one of the teams I mentioned raising the trophy in December.

She is jealous and has diarrhea of the mouth. Bell County will run through several of these teams like a dose of salts.

Not saying Fleming Co can beat Bell Co but it'll be a better game then people think. They have speed at every position good QB an good defense

Completely agree. Matter fact, either one of these teams can beat Belfry and it wouldn't be an upset. I think if Belfry wins Friday and whoever they play, Ashland or Russell, the following week neither team should be a favorite. I think it's that close. Home field advantage will play no part in the outcome of that quarterfinal game two Friday's from now. Anyone who says Belfry will be the clear cut favorite in that game have lost their minds and don't know what their talking about.

They did but I think if you ask Coach Maynard he would tell you it wasnt a typical 55-7 game. It was 14-7 at the half and Fleming had missed 2 opportunities in the red zone. The 2nd half, the wheels fell off and they turned the ball over 4 times. They had 6 turnovers total for the game.
I agree that Fleming's schedule hasn't been the best since the Russell game but they have done what they should do in each of those games. Even against Harrison that was averaging only giving up 14 points and Fleming scored 62.
I'm not saying that Fleming would beat Bell, I'm just saying they are better than some give them credit for.

Fleming lost to a Greenup County team that was blown out by Ashland (twice) and by Russell (42-0). Bell County played a very weak schedule and is probably no better than the fifth best team in 4A, but Fleming has not beaten a good 4A team yet this season.

Hoot is right. Iâd love to see an upset too, but itâs not gonna be by Fleming. I think bell is a little bit âsmoke and mirrorsâ because of their schedule, but Fleming just donât have the horses or the resume to make me think they can pull it off

As a fan, I hope they get the opportunity to play Bell. That would mean they have won the District Championship and 10 games in a season that most preseason publications picked them to win 6 in. Also, they have a young man, in Maher, that has thrown for over 2000 yards and has an opportunity to go over 1000 yards rushing this Friday as well. Pretty impressive for any team vs any schedule.

FWIW,
Donât sleep on CAL.
If they can put two halves together like the First Half against Mercer County they may be the best 3A team out of the lot.
