Russell @ Ashland 11-15
#1
Thoughts? Predictions?
#2
Ashland wins going away 35-14
#3
T-Cats was waiting on the final buzzer to each game to get this thread going.

Both teams have momentum heading into this match up. Ashland playing a very good Spring Valley team has prepared them perfectly headed into the playoffs. They will not face any team like that on their final march. Russell has built a ton of momentum with good offense production and plenty of playing time for everyone up and down the sideline. If there are ever two teams that look forward to playing each other it’s these two teams. Neither team shy’s away from this matchup. I will wait to make my prediction, it’s going to come down to making sure both teams are healthy and 100%.

Devils return the favor & win on the road.

T-Cats couldn't wait until both teams finished so he could put this out here and have the Ashland winning by 40. This is how all Ashland Fans have been with this great Rivalry clear back to 80's and probably before. This is going to be a great game because both teams have outstanding defenses and will be another close game. Yes, Ashland has the home field next Friday but these 2 teams are way too close with talent on both sides of the ball for either team to blow out the other team. This will be a great game and of course Russell will fill Putnam stadium and this game will probably go down to which team has the ball last in the 4th quarter.

Ashland looked really good tonight albeit against a weak team. I believe this is going to be a tough one but I do think Ashland is the favorite here. Ashland 28-14

Ashland in a dandy. 24-21

Does Winner Of This Go To Belfry The Next Week If Belfry Wins? This Is System ,I Have No Idea.Sure Would Like It To Be Ashland.

If Ashland Wins, they travel to Belfry. If Russell wins, Belfry travels to Russell.

I think Russell returns the favor as well and pulls off the road playoff win. However, I think it comes down to the final moments before the outcome is decided and could go either way. Then hopefully the winner will play Belfry the following week with a trip to the semifinals on the line IF the Pirates take care of business next week against Pike Central on Pond Creek. Good luck to both teams, should be a dandy!

This will be a great game. This has been a long-standing rivalry that is about to get one of its signature games placed in the record books. It would be foolish to pick a winner in this one. These are evenly matched teams with excellent coaching staffs who get the most out of their squads. I don’t think home field will matter one bit. I expect every player on both sides to come to play with the expectation that they are moving on with a real shot at a state title. I don’t know who will win, but it will sure be fun for a fan to watch.

Probably one of if not the best 2nd round games of the playoffs. Wish the snow Monday night Tuesday were going to be on Friday Night. Nothing like watching or playing Football in the snow.

I like the Tomcats at Putnam over Russell 42-20
#15
Russell 28-14

This will probably be a defensive struggle with big plays deciding the game. Hester and Pittman very very explosive can break one at any moment. Gregg threw 3 TD passes last night also. Russell played great D last night allowing 70 total yards. Ashland held GC to 49 total yards and one first down en route too a 49-0 halftime score. Hester had over 100 yards last night on 8 carries. Pittman had over 200 on 10.

Russell in a close one

Hey, how about JC's 323 yards in the air thru the first 3 quarters last night? You being the expert and all, I just wanted to give you an update.

OK, You can continue on with the talk of ASH-land's great upcoming minor league battle for next week

Minor League is relative. JC would be down 50-0 in the first half to most teams in states with far better football. Kentucky isn’t exactly a HS powerhouse when it comes to the sport.

Still, the kids work hard and play hard and that’s all that matters. So I wouldnt be trying to diminish what others achieve by comparing them to JC. Most teams in GA, FL, TX, Ohio, or many other states would make JC look like a peewee league team.

I think if either team can get some momentum by putting the ball in the air. It will obviously help their ground game take over.

I think both coaches will be hesitant to risk the turnovers.

Stats against Russell last game Hester 20-112 (40 on one carry) Pittman 12-21
The slow Devil defense is a little different animal. But we shall see....

No doubt the Russell D is good. Ashlands isn't too bad either. Russell couldn't score the last 3-1/2 quarters against the Cats. Ashland is the best team Russell played all season. Russell isn't for the Tomcats. The tough schedule pays huge dividends for Ashland this Friday.:redboxer:

Hmmm, well when JC plays a team out of Georgia, Texas, or Alabama we might be able to answer that question...As of now they play in Kentucky as does ASH-land, albeit against a steady diet of 1A teams.

But according to the clueless "all things JC" expert "Ole Kentucky" they can not throw the ball. Now he's been schooled.

All comes down to tackling for the Evils. Ashland won’t drive it down your throat. They depend highly on the big play from the two running backs. Keep them in check and you win. Little easier said than done though.

Wishful thinking. Russell's giving up roughly eight points a game. You're not gonna hang 42 on them.

Russell had more cupcakes on their schedule then Daves Bakery. Confusednicker:

Both teams I’m sure feel like it’s a winnable game. Ashland’s speed vs Russell’s physicality I’m sure Ashland will try to cut Russell’s lineman like they did the first meeting after Russell ran it down their throat the first 2 drives and they tried it against Spring Valley too.. both teams are very very good and will take Belfry to the limit next week

Going with Russell one more time :HitWall:

Russell 20
Ashland 14
