I saw this debate going on in the Belfry-JC thread! It was interesting to me. To make it interesting, lets just keep it to 2 choices to see which way people lean. So in other words, who are your top 2 teams from the mountains in the last 20 seasons!! Andddddddd GO!

Belfry is at the top, though, by a pretty significant margin. IMO

Bell Co from probably 2005-2010. Then it’s JC and Belfry. 2010-Present

I simply stated an opinion. But yeah you can make arguments for any of these schools.

Belfry and Johnson Central - and the gap between the two has not been large. During the Matney era, JC has a 7-6 record in the series between the schools. JC was horrible during the three seasons between Musick's last season and Matney's first season, so I would give a slight nod to Belfry. (If JC and Belfry played any games pre-Matney during the 2001-2003 period, then Belfry won them all.)

Belfry does hold a big edge in state titles, but JC was competing in a stronger class and was eliminated from the playoffs by some of Highlands' and Covington Catholic's best teams ever.
